Guest guest
You might have seen something in the news recently (here in the US, anyway) that the National Lung Screening Trial has reached a finding: that low-dose helical CT can reduce death from lung cancer by 20 percent in individuals aged 55 to 74 who are former and current heavy smokers. I was a part of that study. I was in the group that got CT scans rather than X-rays. To follow up, we had to complete a questionnaire every six months. I believe that some people got repeat CT scans, but I did not. This study was conducted at various locations in the nation. The bad thing is that Medicare and other insurance doesn't pay for a lung CT scan unless you have an existing medical condition. This might change in the future. But I wonder if RA would qualify.
