" spin flowers " she called them. we had a tree in our back yard and it came to the point that she would not go outside without an umbrella. she's not as afraid of them anymore, but they still disturb her. if i had to guess why, i'd say it's because you never know when one might fall down on you. From 2 to almost 5, she had spells of becoming hysterical when planes flew overhead or when she took a bath because she was afraid she'd go down the drain. I am SO glad she's over that. I would hate to have to wrestle a 100+ pound, 5 foot tall pre-teen into the shower. Bath, not shower, bath. How dare I say shower and in the same sentence. That goes against ALL the rules. Guest guest
This sounds like something one of mine would do. Really. I am trying to think about the oddest behaviour in the house at the moment with Savannah besides the lid collecting. The " weird " thing is she is overprotective of slugs. I don't understand this, but we get slugs in the house all the time, especially in the laundry room for some reason. And they are huge! (ICK!) Savannah goes in there and picks them up ever so gently and takes them outside and puts them down in a safe area where no one will walk on them and they can be happy (according to her). It is just so strange. She found a slug on the floor a few weeks ago that one of the cats got to in the night and had a total meltdown that the slug was dead and that the cats killed it. She is really going to start hating the cats at this rate. This morning I had to rescue one of her gerbils from one of the cats. Woke up to her screaming like someone was killing her. Got the snot scratched out of my arm (hurts like hell). The gerbil was recovered and put back in her cage unharmed. Turns out one of her sisters thought it would be fun to put a gerbil on the floor to run and play. Almost turned into the cats breakfast. ~ Georga ~ Furby Rescue: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/jorghahaq/Furbyrescue.htm Usborne Books: http://www.ubah.com/F1549 Register to win $50 in free books! Guest guest
Speaking of baths.....Mark used to love them. He would take at least 5 of them in the morning alone. Now that we moved I can't get him to take a bath. I don't understand....the only thing I can think of is in my new bathroom the tub has some strips in the bottom to keep you from slipping and they are kind of rough. Maybe he doesn't like the feel of it. I don't know. <sigh> Tina W. > Same here. > > Except Jacqui's fear, one among MANY, was cars. > > ...and yes....BATH...never SHOWER! > > Penny
Guest guest
> Same here. > > Except Jacqui's fear, one among MANY, was cars. > Oh cars....I'm trying VERY hard to forget the car incidents last summer. *shudders* Before was born and right after, I was in 6 car accidents. I was driving in 3, my dad 2 and my husband 1. Every single time it was the other person's fault. We were rear ended 4 times, once when we were the 5th car in line at a read light. I was broad sided and rolled upside down into a corn field. So, I have a serious fear of cars and occasional anxiety attacks. Last summer, decided that riding in the car was too scary and began have absolutely hysterical anxiety attacks. Now I have done my best to NEVER let the kids see me get upset in the car. If I feel an anxiety attack coming on, I stop and buy a bottle of pop, water, anything to get out, get a breath and get myself under control. hasn't ever seen me really freak out. But she started screaming uncontrollably and trying to open the car door. At 55 mph. Um, it was ugly. VERY ugly. My stress level when through the roof. I asked EVERYONE in the family to come drive her around for awhile. (the only way to get past on of her fears is to keep exposing her to it. After 3 to 6 months, she works past it.) NO ONE ever took the child for a ride. EVER. That has got to be the lowest point in raising an autistic child for me. I don't think I ever felt quite so alone in this. Eventually we worked through it. School started back up and they had a few incidents of her getting hysterical on the MH bus, but now it's like she never had the first fear. *sigh* I am SO glad she's past that one and I hope it never happens again.
