Guest guest
Dawn... I have wondered about this... I take it you faxed that letter to your employer to determine whether your TT would meet Fed laws? What a drag... I suppose you could run into similar hassles if you flat out itemized it on Schedule A of 1040's. I hope you win. It really doesn't seem fair that you can't get your money back from the FSA if you don't use it... I'm sure there's a reason for the way FSA's work, but I don't know what it is. Who gets the FSA $$ if you don't? The govt or employer? Trish >From: ROZISROZ@... >Yeah, I have NOT prepaid mine yet. I just called my Flexible Spending >Account people and am NOT a happy person. (FSA is pretax money set aside in >my acct to use for medical expenses and if NOT spent, I lose it <ouch>) I >set up my acct for $2600 for health care expenses NOT cov'd by insurance just >so I could pay for this tt/breastlift. NOW am told I can use FSA for >everything EXCEPT plastic surgery. Uggghhhh...... just faxed copy of >predetermination letter that the surgeon sent to my insurance company (am not >holding my breath on THAT one) and hope that they will consider it medical >necessity. You think the federal government is easier to deal with than >insurance companies???? LOL I sure hope so!!!!! Just when I thought I had >all my ducks in a row to get scheduled for surgery the end of May. >Dawn

And smiling ear to ear <grin>!!!! The FSA lady called me yesterday and told me that it was approved to use these funds for the abdominoplasty, which is TYPICALLY considered " cosmetic " surgery. YES!!!! This validates that I can use this as medical expense on my taxes next year, too, as the FSA is governed by IRS rules. AND NOW I think if the govt says " medical necessity " MAYBE I CAN get the insurance to pay!!!! YIPPEE!!! Will keep y'all posted!!! OOOOH SO EXCITED, did I mention that!!??
