Guest guest
Welcome Lynne! I've been on the BBD for 4 years. The weight pours off to start with but most of us have found a new equilibrium that the body seems to stick to. Nuts are one of the quick fix foods to put weight on but go easy or you make yourself allergic to them. I only take B complex about once a week, and then in the day rather than at night or I never sleep. Look at your supplements to make sure they are all BBD conformable. Many, like vitamin E, come from soy. Do an ELISA food intolerance test to make sure you are not eating anything you are allergic to. I can't help with the anti-depressants I am afraid but I am sure someone else here will jump in. Hopefully the stress is behind you and you can grasp all these new MS things. Having MS is like having a full-time job! Good luck, Janet To: mscured From: lynneandress@... Sorry for such a long post. I really need help with the weight thing and the b complex. Thanks for reading, I am feeling really discouraged and don't want to give up.

Guest guest
Hi Lynne I'm a fellow shortie at 5'3 " tall. I usually weigh around 41KG so am very petite. I went through a year or two couch-bound but had the CCSVI procedure in November of last year and am now slowly starting to get back into shape as I got as heavy as 57KG which was REALLY worrying as I couldn't fit into my clothes. I can back Janet up with the whole weight thing. Weight for most comes off at first but then evens out. You'll be fine! I follow the BBD too and have done for a few years now. My body just seems to respond best to it and I don't even really miss cheese anymore! *the crowd gasps* (it was my favourite food!) I'm fine with milk and icecream - ricemilk and dairy-free icecream as a special treat does an even better job! I detox every 3-6 months and feel so much better at the end of each cycle! I use the detox packs from www.bluestarnaturals.com and whilst they'e a little pricey, they fit with the BBD and do a terriffic job! I also am looking into the detox from a few places online - if I find anything good, I will share with everyone. In regards to supplements, I don't take 'Multivitamins' as they don't have the correct ratios for what our recommendations are of each. Vitamin B Complex is my saviour - my husband bought me the wrong brand and I couldn't wake up. Vit D3 is the same with me - I MUST have it or my body just seems to shut down an lose its energy without me doing anything. A good place to get the run-down on which supplements are recommended for we 'MS'ers and why is www.msrc.co.uk. I don't know if you've read their supplement recommendation list but it's a great place for all things Supplement and BBD related too! I was encountering extreme pain each night when I went to bed (burning, searing pain all up my left thigh) I got a prescription and bottle of LDN when I was up in Glasgow being tested for CCSVI in August last year. I haven't had pain in my leg again.....unless I miss a night of two of LDN. I am a member of MS-Diet too and of the LDN Yahoo groups too. I run a group on Facebook called 'Michelangelo'S Angels' which promotes the 'alternative' ways to fight 'MS'. If you have questions on anything I've said, I'll be happy to fill you in - just let me know. Welcome to the group!! 'What we do in life, echoes through eternity.' MARCUS AURELIUS (121 - 180 A.D.) Don't forget to get rid of the beans/peas/legumes, very important in terms of molecular mimicry. One of the worst reactions I've ever had since starting BBD was to soy. If you feel like you are ok with eggs, they are ok on BBD. I react to them, confirmed by ELISA test, but looking forward to the day when I can have them occasionally again. It's been a full year so I'm ready to test them, but I may wait for another ELISA to try it, because eggs are highly allergenic so it's possible I still react after 1 year. The ELISA I had done last year still showed reactions to soy and other beans after a full 2 years off of them. > I have started a liquid b complex that I am taking only 1 tsp of in the morning and today will be day 3. If you feel like you need more protein to help with that, hemp powder is great in smoothies. HTH and welcome aboard! Crystal

Guest guest
hi lynne - what is your diagnosis ? MS progressive or relapse/remittance brgds peter ________________________________ To: mscured Sent: Tue, 25 January, 2011 16:51:31 Subject: New Member and need some help  Hi My name is Lynne, 50 year old single female. Diagnosed Oct/10, symptoms starting Aug/10 (likely many years earlier). Symptoms started after 1.5 years of stress after losing my home and business and ending up on social assistance living with a friend in a stressful home. The neurologists have not had their way with me yet! (no drugs) Right from the get go I knew that I would approach this disease in a holistic way and have spent the last months doing nothing but research on the web. Decided the BB Diet made the most sense and slowly got myself off of grains, dairy and eggs. Started some supplements. Two issues have come up that I desperately need help with. First I have been on antidepressants (paxil) for quite a number of years (15) after quite a few unsuccessful attempts of weaning off because I would experience panic episodes, which I had never had before paxil, but this is a common symptom of withdrawl which is so scary that many people stay on the drug. I know I need to get off of this drug if I am ever going to get health, but withdrawing is for another time. Right now my focus is on getting my nutritional state better and hopefully get some relief from my symptoms. Some people that have been on antidepressants for a long time become hypersensitive to a lot of supplements...so I have had to be careful. The problem I am having is with B-Complex. I have tried every way possible but it is too stimulating for me. 50 mg a day and after the third day I could only sleep 3 hours in 24, but some of my numbness was abating! I had to stop my multi because of it as well. I have started a liquid b complex that I am taking only 1 tsp of in the morning and today will be day 3. The dose for 100mg is 6 tsp! So the b-complex is the one issue, the other one is weight. I am only 5 feet tall and small boned, and I have always weighed around 100lbs. This year before I got sick I had gained 15lbs...a first for me, but my diet was bad. Now that all the grains and dairy are gone I have dropped down to 97.5, and I am losing my muscle tone as well, and I am very very weak. I am worried I am going to lose more weight. Sorry for such a long post. I really need help with the weight thing and the b complex. Thanks for reading, I am feeling really discouraged and don't want to give up. Guest guest
I apologize to all for starting this thread and not returning quicker, I really need to be a part of this group for support. My right hand has now gone numb, tingly and weak and typing has been difficult, but I think it is getting a tad better =) Janet Orchard wrote: > > I only take B complex about once a week, and then in the day rather than at > night or I never sleep. > > Look at your supplements to make sure they are all BBD conformable. Janet, thanks for your advice. I wonder why it is that we are having difficulties with the B Complex? It is such an important set of nutrients for MS, and I see that all the different protocols are using large amounts. On day three of using the B Complex I was feeling less tingly and my walking was a tad better, but my sleep got so bad. I was only sleeping for about 3 hours in 24, so I had to stop. I need to figure out which B's are causing the issues with sleep. Yes, I am making sure that all my supplements are BBD conforming =) Lynne

MS progressive or relapse/remittance > brgds peter > Thats a really good question =) The Dr. I saw at the MS clinic said it is Relapsing/Remitting, because two of my symptoms were short lived and went away, but all my other symptoms have not gone away since this all started on August 1. These two exaberations the Dr. was referring too were Optic Neuritis- double vision and a bout of trigeminal neuralgia. They both came on at different times and each peaked at about two weeks and slowly went away. However, my first symptom was numbness on my left side. I did have a limp for a few weeks which went away. The numbness which has slowly gotten worse and tingly, and has moved to both sides and now up to my chest. My right hand and arm was the last to be effected in the last few weeks. Three months ago both feet started to get cold which is now up both legs and my back, it never goes away and effects my walking which is very slow and stiff like. Of course the cold areas are warm to the touch. I am extremely cold sensitive and my legs go very stiff and I can't walk well at all if I go outside, and it is not THAT cold outside. My fatigue is debilitating. I would love some input on this if anyone would like to give their opinion. Lynne
Guest guest
Hi Judith, MOVICOL works very well with no known side effects. Works better than any other type of laxative because it basically adds fluid from the inside of the stool. My wife who i care for 24/7 with MS takes this every day on small dosages daily rather than use the whole satchel when needed. I have been managing her bowels for about the last 14 years now and she goes every day without any bowel issues. And this is someone who cannot exercise or walk or move at all. I highly recommend MOVICOL which is not only available at the chemist but if you have MS you can get it on prescription too. russ > > > > > > > > > On a totally other issue I wondered what other members of the group do > > to ensur regular bowel movements . > > > > judith > > > > ________________________________ > > > > > I would be quite interested in this as well. Guest guest
Hi everyone, Having struggled to be 'regular' for years, I now am in the wonderful position of going daily, if not 2 or 3 times a day. In the past I have tried psyllium husks powder which worked well, but since I've started taking colostrum, my bladder and bowels appear to be back to normal!
