Guest guest
Hi guys!!! THIS is SOOOO exciting!!!! The news we are very pleased to announce... After several months of negotiations we are pleased to announce that the first procedures for CCSVI in the UK will take place in October 2010. Starting a new treatment such as CCSVI in the UK has been challenging and our original plans to start in July were unavoidably delayed. We have now secured the commitment of an eminent vascular surgeon with extensive experience in endovascular procedures. We have also secured first class facilities for CCSVI treatment and are therefore now able to offer an excellent package of care and treatment to our patients. As you would expect, UK based CCSVI treatment will be of the highest standard with treatment outcomes being analysed within a large clinical study. The first cases will be carried out by Mr Reid in conjunction with the internationally recognised CCSVI expert Dr Ivo Petrov of Bulgaria - who has performed over 300 procedures. These cases will be carried out on the eve of our CCSVI conference in state of the art facilities at The Edinburgh Clinic, on the 28th of October 2010. Thereafter we will be devoting our attention to the considerable waiting list that has built up over the past few months. It is our intention to clear this waiting list as soon as possible; those who have deferred seeing us until this announcement, will still be contacted in the order they originally went onto our waiting list. We do however realise that it will be early 2011 before we have worked through everyone who is currently on our list. At present we are still unable to offer scans and treatment in the same week but hope that this will be possible in the new year. We are not opening anywhere else within the UK at present. We are delighted to be working in partnership with vascular surgeon Mr Reid who became aware of CCSVI while working with Dr Ivo Petrov in Bulgaria. He has considerable endovascular experience in the implantation of stents which will now be an option for treatment in the UK. The low level of complications in both Bulgaria and Poland augurs well for the use of stents where angioplasty alone is not effective. The Edinburgh Clinic The Edinburgh Clinic is one of the newest and best appointed medical facilities in the UK. It has extensive imaging and theatre facilities as well as excellent disabled access. We are confident that our patients will have a world class experience with The Essential Health Clinic and our partners in CCSVI treatment. Those on the treatment waiting list will be contacted as soon as we can, to arrange a date for the intervention. Since our original estimate of costs, there have been some important changes to the way we will offer CCSVI treatment. We have endeavored to keep our pricing structure close to the original estimate but the possible requirements for stents and the addition of anaesthetic cover has slightly increased the price of treatment in the UK. The total package of Doppler scan, Doctors consultation, Venogram, Endovascular treatment angioplasty +/- stenting, six month follow up scanning appointment and consultation is £5,950. For those who have already been scanned this will reduce to £5,500. This compares favourably with the other international treatment centres and is close to our original estimate. Thank you for your patience and support over the past few months. We look forward to this exciting new development - treatment of CCSVI in the UK. Again we would like to re-iterate that we cannot cope with phone calls asking for more information as it is swamping our systems. All current information is on our website. Please also do not ring The Edinburgh Clinic direct as all appointments will originate through us. Thank You xx 'What we do in life, echoes through eternity.' MARCUS AURELIUS (121 - 180 A.D.)
