Guest guest
Hi Lori, sorry to hear you had so much trouble with the Celebrex! I just can't believe they're actually markeing a drug by bragging that it has never been taken off the market. Whoop-de-doo. Becca ************** Start the year off right. Guest guest
Really, What a joke.It should be taken off the market.I had an allergic reaction to it.It gave me flu like symptoms including a fever,a rash and oh yea, kidney toxicity. It hurt like I had kidney stones.I threw it away and was put on antibiotics because I was told I also had a bladder and kidney infection. With bed rest and a ton of fluids my so called infections went away but my kidney still hurt months later. When I saw the kidney dr. he said there were no stones and that I'm not sick because kidneys don't feel pain!!???!!!WTF?Ok.What ever.He then charged me $300 and sent me on my way. After much research on my own I saw that I had all the symptoms described as in the Toxicity reports.Go figure.Hey ..I just noticed where I saw something in this article about not taking it if you are allergic to a certain type of antibiotic.HMM.I am allergic to Cipero as well and Codine.Wonder if that had anything to do with the problem I had. Here is the article.Lori-love my baby brendon http://www.alsa.org/patient/drug.cfm?id=47 http://sads.myspace.com/Modules/Search/Pages/Search.aspx?searchtarget=tms & websea\ rch=1 & searchString=key & q=celebrex+side+effects+toxicity moftap@... wrote: Just heard this on a TV commercial for Celebrex. Guest guest
And silly me thought a drug was supposed to be proven safe BEFORE being allowed to be marketed! Guest guest
Sorry to hear that, . I just thought it was a strange marketing ploy to say, " Hey, our drug has never been taken off the market! " as if that was some sort of badge of honor (rolling eyes). Guest guest
Yeah it's a fabulous drug, except for the fact that taking Celebrex destroyed my stomach completely (diarrhea for almost 6 weeks straight! Sorry TMI) and I can no longer eat any dairy of any kind because of it. They don't tell you that!! I should make my own commercial for them! Huff " Just heard this on a TV commercial for Celebrex. Guest guest
Yeah very strange, especially since, imo it should be taken off! Is there nothing they won't use to try to sell their drugs! Guest guest
Hi all Back from depression! I'm feeling better, tough. As for Celebrex it worked a while for me, but I had to stop it because of my heart. So, if you have heart problems, better try other meds. Guest guest
All NSAIDs come with the warning that one of the side affects can be high blood pressure. Also well as bleeding and ulcers in the stomach. Your pharmacy should have given the you " black box " warning sheet with it. My doctor RX'd Prilosec with it to counter act stomach problems. I know it's OTC now, but luckily Caremark is filling it and it cost me less than OTC, much less. Kate G Hashi's AS At 12:23 PM 2/28/2008, you wrote: >I have anklyosing spondylitis. Guest guest
I'm allergic to sulfa drugs and shell fish. My doc finally gave me Celebrex to try after trying many other meds and after research about the medicine. It's working great for me. I have had no side effects whatsoever from it. My doc says that the chance of allergic reaction is very, very small so I was willing to try it. I feel like I made an informed decision when I decided to try it. I've been on it for almost a year now. Phyllis [ ] Re: Celebrex > > Whats the opinion of Celebrex ? > > Bob > My rheum won't give me that since I am allergic to sulfa meds. Did take Vioxx which really helped me prior to it taken off the market. Now have to settle for Lodine instead. Guest guest
Hi, I also am allergic to sulfa drugs and I have no side effects with Celebrex. I do find that it gives me zero pain relief, though. Interesting how we are all so different! Guest guest
Just a note to remind everyone that does not have health insurance coverage that maybe you can qualify for prescription assistance from the drug companies as I get my Celebrex for free from the drug company. They just send it to my dr's office for me to pick up. Thank God for that. I just wanted to share. Guest guest
I was able to tolerate both Celebrex and Alieve when I was desensitized. Of course, had a bad episode once I was no longer desensitized, when I took Alieve for an injured shoulder.Back to tylenol - and living with the pain!!ieOn Oct 1, 2010, at 9:40 AM, elayne511 wrote: I have successfully undergone aspirin desens. but now have been prescribed celebrex for arthritis. Guest guest
Elayne I have been desensitized for over 5 years and have never had any problem with Celebrex, Bextra or Alleve. Now that you are desensitized you should also be able to take any of these drugs also. If you are really concerned, you could plan on taking your first dose at the doctor’s office where you were desensitized or the local emergency room. This may put your mind at ease although I am 99.9% confident you will not have a reaction. Guest guest
Elayne, Celebrex is a COX-2-selective inhibitor and is not likely to give off a Samter's reaction, especially under aspirin desense, unless you were extremely sensitive. The risk with Celebrex resides in its inherent side-effects : gastro-intestinal perforation and heart disease : http://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?id=15133 > > I have successfully undergone aspirin desens. but now have been prescribed celebrex for arthritis. Guest guest
I am taking 2 Celebrex at night. I just started this a few days ago. The last 2 days, I have had issues looking at screens, focusing (sight wise not concentration wise) and have had headaches. Anybody else have this issue? I am going to not take it now and see if it all goes back to normal. Just wondering if anybody else found a similar issue. If it doesnt go back to normal, then the only other thing I take is Plaquenil, but I didnt have issues with that until i took the Celebrex? Thanks for your insights. Guest guest
Theresa, Plaquenil is one of the meds that can affect the eyes. I haven't heard that Celebrex can. Your doctor should have told you to have your eyes checked by an ophthalmologist periodically while on Plaquenil. You should call your rheumatologist and see what he/she says about it. Guest guest
My blood pressure really went up when I started taking it so I got off it pretty quick. Maybe it could be a combo of taking the two meds together. Can you call your doc or pharmacist? Guest guest
Hi, I'm on celebrex only and having some eye sensitivity, almost like a burning sensation....I find I have to close them tight often throughout the day. As you mentioned, this is mostly when I'm at the computer, watching TV, or in outside. One of the side effects is sensitivity to sunlight, not sure if this is the case. I will be mentioning it to my Dr. tomorrow. I'll let you know what she says.
Guest guest
Thank you so much for your reply. I look forward to hearing what your doctor says. I stopped the Celebrex, to see if I go back to “normal†in the eye department. I also made an appt. with my eye doctor, since I did also start the Plaquenil. So many appointments sometimes it seems. I am glad to know somebody else is having a similar issue, just because it makes me hopeful that is isnt an issue with the Plaquenil. I hope you get relief soon. Theresa From: michelle_collins@...
