Guest guest
Frequent reader, but I seldom post. I'm pretty well controlled on plaquenil, but lately I've been having some muscle twitches all around my body and pain in my left forearm that goes down to my pinkie and ring fingers. Those two fingers don't quite feel numb, but there is some tingling. Has anyone else had these symptoms? I am currently in between Rheums, as mine has left his practice and I have an appointment with the new guy when he starts seeing patients in two weeks. The pain/twitching has been significant enough that I have had very little sleep the last two nights, so I was getting concerned that maybe something else was going on. Now that I think back, I've had these symptoms before (shortly after dx) but I thought they were side effects of Zoloft. (Along with anxiety and profuse sweating. Yikes.) I'm hoping someone here can confirm that they, too, have had this experience or at least know of others that have. Thanks!
Guest guest
My leg twitching was diagnosed as restless leg syndrome some time before the RA showed up. I take repuip before i go to bed and it has helped me so much. Also I have not no side effects, expcept it does help me sleep. Carol [ ] Muscle twitches Frequent reader, but I seldom post. Guest guest
Thanks for your ideas, everyone. It's so helpful to be able to talk to a variety of people who have gone ahead of me down this path. My pcp was out of the office this week, but the doctor I saw attributed it to stress and too much caffeine. I do think I was having a mild flare, but I don't know for sure. The symptoms are better, almost totally gone, in fact. I'm wondering if I do possibly have a pinched nerve in my neck. My stress always kind of lives in my neck and shoulders, and I get migraines and also a stiff neck quite often. I've actually thought about contacting a chiropractor, as you suggested. This may be a good time to do that. > > - > > In the " For what it's worth " column, the pinkie/ring finger/ forearm symptoms are exactly the same for a pinched neck nerve. I have dealt with that for 12 years running and highly recommend a chiropractor to release the nerve via adjustment. There is a surgery for it, but my old pain specialist told me not to do it or I would regret it. He told me to go Chiropractic and it really, really helps. > > As to the sweating- I don't know your age, but it sure is part & parcel of menopause. Especially night sweats. > > As natural as it is for us to try to connect everything wrong w/us to meds or RA, it often is apples & elephants in comparison. That's just my 2 cents- and NOBODY pays me to think, so take it or leave it as you wish. > > Gentle hugs- in SC >
Guest guest
- Try getting a Buckwheat Hull neck wrap. It can be microwaved or put in freezer- depends on what feels better for you. It really helps me a lot. With your head level, slowly turn to each side and see how far your range of motion is. Sometimes, you can put the disc back in yourself that way. Don't push it further than feels comfortable. The initial expense of Chiropractic is a bit high because of the xrays, but most Docs are reasonable as it gets. Sure are cheaper than medical Dr's. in SC I'm wondering if I do possibly have a pinched nerve in my neck.
