Darlene,

If not we should start one. I nominate all of us, with Drs. Sy and Nase as

honorary members. (Maybe we can build one in Red Bluff? I forget which state

that's in! We can have a South American branch in Buenos Aires at the Casa

da. Too bad the Russians renamed Red Square. That would have been

perfect....) Matija

Darlene,

Here is an interesting site:

http://www.skinema.com

(For the record: I got an email stating that Andy Warhol could have suffered

from a different skin ailment and that Cromwell was made to look like he

had cea in a movie. I don't know ...?)

Thor,

I could believe the part about actors being made up to look like they have

rosacea because I read that on the net before. They were usually playing the

role of a sick, psycho bad guy. That's why there is so much of a stigma on

people with facial skin conditions. It's really awful when you think of it.

They even said that Batman movie with Two-face (half face bumpy and red) was

another example. I had to stop reading it cause it upset me so much then --

I started thinking people were judging me based on my skin tone! And here I

have met more people on this e-group with this condition and they are the

nicest and sanest people!

Yes, I'd read somewhere that Andy Warhol was a rosacea sufferer, and also that

he was intensely ashamed of the appearance of his facial skin--I can believe

that!

Thor and Darlene,

Thanks for your insightful notations on how they make up actors to look as if

they've got these awful skin conditions--usually portraying wicked evil

characters, or alcoholics! No wonder we get to feeling self-conscious!

Don't forget the most famous rosacea sufferer of them all. W.C. Fields.

,

Wasn't WC Fields also accused of being an alcoholic? I think he was, actually,

but he was one who also tempered the effects of alcohol with an otherwise " good "

diet?

Now here's an example of a guy with nose involvement, huh?

I believe that Karl Malden has it. His nose looks like a strawberry, and I

don't think he's an alcoholic. BTW, he's from the same neck of the woods that

my relatives are from (E. European). My dad has that same strawberry nose.

Every Dr. or Derm. who looked at my face told me the story of W. C. Fields,

they must use him as an example in med. school.

If Clinton has it, that means there is some justice in the world after all.

I just have to figure out what I did to deserve this red face!

Hi .

That made me chuckle. ;)

One of the last times I saw Clinton talking on tv, I told my husband his nose

looked odd, like it had too much makeup on it or something. I also said I had

never noticed his nose being so round like that. At the time I had no idea

about rosacea. *sigh* Now I know.

Hang in there, my fellow glowing person.

Darlene,

So do repression and sexism! Unfortunately, there will probably be a cure for

rosacea faster than the other items. (Sorry for showing my political leanings!!)

BTW, I remember seeing photos of B. and Eleanor Roosevelt where

their skin looked blotchy. There were b & W photos so can't tell for sure.
