Guest guest
My rheumy sent me to a pain management doctor. I'm allergic to codeine and had been previously told I shouldn't take Percocet or Vicodin but the pain md said that they're chemically different and there probably wouldn't be a problem. So I tried 3 days of each (starting with half-doses) and decided I liked the Percocet more (effective and fewer side effects.) But I was still waking up in the middle of the night with hip pain (probably not RA-related - psoas (sp?) muscle) so he added tramadol ER to take at night. I can take 1 or 2 or 3 bills. The idea is to keep a low level of pain relief going at all times and then use the Percocet on top of it. I had taken the tramadol in the past and it wasn't strong enough. I have found that it's helped some with the hip pain - though some nights it's more effective than others. Interesting item from the pain doc – he said pain docs never really liked darvocet – they didn’t think it was really effective for most people. But we can see from this list that many of us found it to be the most useful pain med we’ve used. in Alameda (CA)
