Guest guest
Yes my neuro has prescribed this as my standard care and I receive it every 3 weeks. In the past when I was hospitalized for severe relapses, IVIG was used over 5-7 days like someone else might be given novantrone or solumedrol but I don't tolerate either. Separately many rheumatologists have been using IVIG for various conditions so they both worked together to follow my care and it is working well for both. IVIG may not work for everyone. When first diagnosed, I was relapsing constantly and going downhill constantly and I'd get IVIG say for 5 days in the hospital and get better but start relapsing again just 35 days later. So over time, doctors would prescribe it regularly say once per month but I would still relapse and so they'd take me off it but I didn't respond to anything else.....More recently, a newer neuro for me prescribed the IVIG every 3 weeks and I have stopped relapsing and haven't been in ER or hospitalized. Here are some links about it: http://www.americanoutcomes.com/multiple-sclerosis-treatments.php www.cidpusa.org/P/ivig.htm www.revolutionhealth.com/articles?id=tf2742 ms.about.com/.../Intravenous-Immunoglobulin-Ivig-For-Multiple-Sclerosis.htm www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov > ... > v.57(Suppl); Nov 1994 neurology.ucsf.edu/msc/treatments.htm To find these links, I used these search words IVIG for mmultiple sclerosis
