Guest guest
Here are some of my IE "gains" -I enjoy food more! -I'm more comfortable eating in front of other people and I don't feel like I have to justify my food choices. -I feel more comfortable in my skin. -My self talk is more positive...not always positive but more positive than negative. -I buy clothes that fit me instead of clothes that are slightly too small that I'll fit into once I "lose a little weight." -If I'm hungry, I eat something instead of waiting until it's the proper time to eat. That's all I can think of right now! Great post Katcha!! Subject: Positive IE 'gains'To: IntuitiveEating_Support Received: Sunday, June 15, 2008, 11:40 PM When I get to feeling that I am 'stuck' and not going any where(especially down in weight) with IE, I have to stop and remind myselfthat I have gained good new practices regarding my eating from IE.Some times its only telling myself that I am 'aware' more and notreacting with knee-jerk type eating as I did before. And on days likethis where I made a fabulous batch of chocolate chip cookies and ateso many just because they tasted SO GOOD, I am not freaked out aboutit either. I feel that is progress to be happy about :)What are your progress points that you are happy with? I would lovefor this topic to be replied to by more people than we knew we hadmembers here Its so IE to pat ourselves on the back instead ofbeating ourselves up ;-) PLEASE let us know what you find thatrepresents some IE gains for you :)ehugs, Katcha Looking for the perfect gift? Guest guest
What a great question Katcha! Thanks for reminding us to focus in on the positives and see just how far we have come! *I'm not focused on losing weight *I have freedom! No more writing every bite down, counting caloris, grams or points! No more bondage to the scale or whatever diet! *I eat what I want and I'm much more satisified. No more deprivation! *When I do overeat, I assess why and rather than feel guilty or beat myself up, I acknowledge it and find other loving ways to meet my needs that food no longer fills. *I no longer " graze " through my day becuase some diet is telling me to eat every couple hours. *I'm now intuitive with my exercise and listen to my body and don't push my body and cause injuries. *I accept my body - doesn't mean that I don't want to be thinner for health reasons, but I love and accept my fat. *I probably eat more balanced - not all protein, or all vegies and fruit *I really don't like chocolate that much (gasp!)- There are so many other flavors I enjoy! *I'm not thinking of food all the time *I no longer have a problem taking home part of my food when at a restaraunt. - When they suggested this at WW I had such resistance to it, but now that I listen to my fullness level, I have no problem doing so and actually look forward to the leftovers the next day! Guest guest
Great question. The biggest gain so far is that I've stopped (well, almost)comparing my body and my food choices to some arbitrary standard. I am who I am and I eat what I eat because I want to. And I know WHY I'm eating. Gone are the days where I would eat more or eat more often because some website or BMR calculator said I should.
