When I had mine and was pregnant with an 8lb 15 oz baby girl and delivered her

in that condition along with 5 pinched nerves, best thing I can recommend to

you is go see a chiropractor. Mine was sent by God to elevate the pain I was

in. He was amazed to know I had my baby naturally and didn't make a sound.

He told hubby at that time, that he couldn't understand cuz he knew I had to

be in extreme pain at time of delivery. After delivery though I couldn't even

pick my baby up and I was all hunched over and in pain no matter what position

I got into. He popped my back out a few times a week and in no time I was

over the pain and could lead a normal life again. Haven't had it come back

either which is GRAND to me.

Hope this information helps as I know the pain you are in. Good luck and best

of health to you.

Dear ,

A magnet held on the area for 15 minutes will eliminate sciatica

permanently.

Once in a while, you may need a second treatment.

Best of Health!

Hi Everyone:

Is there anyone out there that knows how to aleviate

Sciatica Pain, Naturally Speaking?

I know that Barbituate Meds really work, but they are

also really toxic!

I was told that surgery is an option if the pain persisits.

I reside in the Toronto area of Canada and simply can-

not find a honest holistic body worker.

They all take your money and give you nothing in return.

Appreciate anyones feedback.

Thanks

Hi . Here is some information that might be of interest. You can

contact me off list for more info if you want. If you scroll down there

are a couple of sciatica stories.

*NECK,ARM & SHOULDER PAIN*

I was first introduced to the Chi Machine in August 2000. I have been

suffering from intermittent poor health for seven years due to pregnancy

related hyperthyroidism on three separate occasions. During my last

pregnancy of 1998 I also developed an autoimmune disorder where my immune

system began to attack my right eye. I went into remission from both

conditions late in 1998, but my body was left very weak and I am on

medication because of a chemical imbalance due to the endocrine and immune

disorders. I would continually get sick and I developed allsorts of

allergies and I had very little energy.

I was also born with a rare spinal deformity of my fifth lower lumbar

vertebra. I also suffer from a permanent

separation of my left collarbone from an injury when I was two years old.

The spinal deformity over time, caused my back to be severely out of

alignment which resulted in all types of nerve, sciatic and muscle

problems.

the separated collarbone was caused by a complete tear of the cartilage at

the base of my sternum. My collarbone is being supported by scar tissue and

the surrounding muscles, the results of which has been neck, shoulder, back,

arm and hand problems for over 30 years.

Often timesI would lose the full use of my left arm and could not raise it

up. Neither one of these conditions can be corrected by surgery. I was

told surgery would only be an option if I ended up losing the use of my

legs. I was also told that I would have to perform physical therapy type

exercises for my shoulders and back for the rest of my life or I could end

up losing the full use of my arms.

The Chi Machine gave me back my energy after just oneweek. After the 5th

use, my varicose veins began to go away and I could feel the blood flowing

into my legs and feet. After about two weeks the pain in my hands, arms and

neck andshoulders went away. However the pain in my lower back muscles and

in the bone was getting more severe, but the numbness in my feet went away

and then my upper back pain also gave way. Last, the severe pain in my

lower back and my sciatica went away sometime after the 3rd week.

I went to the Chiropractor on October 2, 2000, for X-rays. My spine and

birth deformity had straightened out with only a slight curvature

remaining.

The doctor said my spine looked great and that I had no significant

problems with my back. I have been feeling great with lots of energy, less

sleep and I no longer have any significant pain anywhere in my body. I feel

about 20 years younger, I've lost weight and inches, I weigh 110 pounds and

I look better than I have in years.

I have tons of energy and vitality and I can't wait to get up each morning!

The Chi Machine has been a miracle in my life.

--Theresa C.

*SCIATICA*

WhenI was young, I played tennis, exercised each day and took walks with

my dog three times a day. I enjoyed outside activities, and could not

understand people joining a gym to exercise on machines in stuffy sweaty

atmosphere. I always had a healthy lifestyle where I played on school

teams and won tennis tournaments.

I injured my back in my late twenties but had learned to protect it by not

lifting heavy objects and not sitting too long. However, sleeping was a

problem and gradually over the years getting up without pain in the morning

was not possible. Then as my forties came upon me, sports injuries started

to occur. Torn calf muscle, painful shoulder, an underactive thyroid and

more constant back pains than I had previously had,all of which slowed me

down somewhat.

Then I developed sciatica! For a person who had not a day off work sick in

twenty years, to be laid low for three weeks and the possibility of having

to give up tennis, was devastating. I had acupuncture, went to

physiotherapists and chiropractors, which cost a small fortune. I had

painkillers and stronger painkillers. Forced myself to walk the dog,

though he did not understand why the walks were so short! Gradually,

the pain eased and I was able to return towork and continue a life that

was tentative and restrictive, with no tennis, only gentle exercise.

Fortunately my sister was visiting from Australia and she had discovered

yoga over there, which had done wonders for her back, damaged in a car

accident some ten years earlier. I saw the change in her and decided it

was

for me. I joined a class and through the excellent teaching, I steadily

improved. A year after joining I was introduced to the Sun Ancon Chi

machine. " Me? on a Chi Machine? What next? " But it did not take long to

decide and having tasted what the energy could do for me through yoga I now

am the proud owner of the Chi Machine.

My new life has started with more energy and confidence I play a better

game

of tennis, I am painfree while sitting and I have a more relaxed sleeping

pattern. I have even gone back to college to upgrade my skills in

computer technology. I cannot wait until I am fifty years old to see what

else I can find the energy to do!

My husband is also a tennis player, who does not practice yoga, has used

the

machine and was heard to state that a troublesome knee is no longer painful

after exercise. Every home should have one, the benefits are enormous

and I can forget the physiotherapist bills.

Sciatica

In March 1981, while having sports training in the school yard, a childran

into me and I twisted my body trying to prevent his fall and pinched the

sciatic nerve in my back. Because I was six weeks pregnant at the time the

doctor could only give me Panado lto relieve the pain so that it would not

harm my baby.

I spent several months in hospital lying flat on my back including five

weeks in traction and in constant pain. In December 1981, a month after

the

birth of my healthy daughter, I had a laminectomy. Although this operation

was successful ( I Iater heard of many other people who were worse off) my

surgeonen couraged me to enjoy life now because he said that there would be

more pain and less flexibility when I grew older. I was only 39 years old.

The doctor's prognosis was correct. In March 1995 I got a part-time job

after being out of the workforce for 15 years. I was working in an after

school care programme for three hours a day, five days a week. Often I

would spend 12 hours a day in bed and then get up feeling exhausted. Many

times I needed much rest before I went towork. In March 1998 I reduced

that time to one day per week because I was physically not coping with the

work.

In April 1998 I was introduced to theThe Chi Machine at a health exposition.

Although I only tried it for three minutes the effect was incredible. I

knew I had to have my own Chi Machine. After three weeks of daily use of

the Chi Machine I realized that my pain had disappeared and that my back

was warm.

Since I started using the Chi Machine my physical health and flexibility

felt 25 years younger. Furthermore, I felt my creativity and energy

increased. Wherever I traveled I always carried the Chi Machine in my

car, or if I am flying, my machine travels with me.

Thank you Dr. Inoue for your amazing Sun Ancon Chi Machine

*WEIGHTLOSS*

Just a note to let you know how much my husband and I are enjoying our Chi

Machine. Here are some of the personal results I have seenin a very short

period of time.

I am diabetic with neuropathy in my feet and venous insufficiency in both

ankles. By using the Chi Machine for 15 to 20 minutes twice a day the

circulation is improving and the burning sensation has almostgone. Before

I started using the Chi Machine I would wakeup several times during the

night with a terrific burningsensation whenever covers touched my ankles.

Now I am getting a good night's sleep.

I also have to wear a TENS unit (a battery powered pain unit) for the

spasms

in my arm following radical mastectomy surgery. As a result of the

surgery,

I could not extend my left arm much above the ear level in a curved

position

- despite much physical therapy and going to the chiropractor. Since I

have

been using the Chi Machine, I can now expend it completely over my head to

match the otherarm. I can now go longer intervals without the TENS unit.

My curiosity had me go have my cholesterol rechecked. After 8 weeks using

the Chi Machine, with no other changes in diet,e xercise or medication, the

triglycerides were down 34 points,HDL (good) cholesterol up 11 points and

LDT (bad) cholesteroldown 19 points. Each day I see other pluses so my Chi

and I are very good friends.

My husband had triple-bypass surgery in1998 and also has a bone spur on his

hip joint, which limits his being able to walk. He has faithfully ridden

his stationary bike for thirty minutes every other day but could not lose

any weight. When he began using the Chi Machine, he lost 4 pounds in the

first 3 weeks and is continuing to lose more. He is also less bothered by

his bad hip since he has been using the ChiMachine.

Both of us are extremely pleased that we have the Chi Machine.

Knee,Back, Leg and Hip Pain*

*

Rarely do I find a product which sparks my interest to the point that I

have to tell everyone about it. But that is exactly what I found with

the Chi Machine. After listening to a cassette, I couldn't get a

machine fast

enough! My main concern was for my family, not myself.

I have a sister with severe asthma who recently was air lifted to the Twin

Cities for stabilization. Our youngest sister is a brittle diabetic who has

been in a diabetic coma several times. Another sister has al iver disease

and is allergic to numerous things. Dad suffers with severe knee pain and

Mom has suffered side pain for 45 years plus other ailments. My husband

suffers with gout and both our children have occasional back pain. The list

seems endless.

*

*I truly believe the Chi machine is the answer to our prayers. If I did not

believe, I wouldn't have purchased one just from listening to a tape.

Several years ago I had vein stripping done and my legs ache terribly

when I

climb a flight of stairs. Since I have been Chiing, I am running up the

stairs with no pain what-so-ever.

My daughter has been to a Chiropractor 3 days in a row with back pain.

After the first time on the Chi Machine she noticed the pain moved, however,

it was hardly noticeable. The next day the pain was completely gone.

Dad noticed pain in his cold shoulder during his first two treatments on

the

Chi machine but the pain subsided dramatically when the timer shut off and

was gone for the rest o fthe day. His knee pain is less severe and he

always

looks forward to his next Chi.

Mom woke with hip pain before her firstt reatment. After just one minute on

the machine it was gone andhasn't returned.

*

*My entire family is grateful for theChi Machine.

I purchased The Oxygenating Massager (Chi machine) about 18 months ago for

chronic fatigue, and insomnia and realized a couple months later, my Sciatia

pain

was gone. Vacations were lousy for us because sitting in a car to get to our

destination was a nightmare due to this pain. This little machine has done

great

things for us. Even my husband who drinks beer like there is no tomorrow

(he says it is all natural...ha) and eats anything that wiggles around his

plate,

loves the machine.

Hi Saul,

Would you please elaborate on what size and type of magnet would be

Dear Sandy,

I use flat bar magnets, with the poles on the flat side, not the end.

They are 2 " x 3 " and 3500 gauss.

Best of Health!

Hi Saul,

Would you please elaborate on what size and type of magnet would be

suitable for this application.

thanks

Hi,

Lyrica did wonders for me, then my insurance company cut me off of

it because it isn't labeled for scatica, but praise be my doctor

found a loop hole and my husband is on his way to pick up my

prescription now. At first Lyrica makes your muscles feel like water

amd makes you sleepy but all that is well worth it. It starts

working in about a week and takes that jagged edge off the pain. I

was on nuerotin it helped some but Lyrica is the best for me anyway.

my back pain but I can't find anything to help with the sciatica.  I

constantly have this burning sensation that starts in my right (I

really don't know how to say this without feeling awkward) " cheek "

and goes partway down the back of my thigh.  I've found heat makes

it way worse, ice sometimes helps a little bit, but other than that

it's really uncomfortable, especially when sitting.  The doctor

started me on nortriptyline (sp?) about 2 weeks ago but that doesn't

seem to be doing anything.  Has anybody else found something that

seems to help?

Thanks Terry, I will talk to my doctor about it if they ever call me back with

an appt to go in for the ESI's.  I have never been so frustrated with doctors my

entire life as I am right now.  I get the feeling they don't consider " back

pain " a serious issue or believe you when you tell them how much pain you're in,

like you're exaggerating or being dramatic.  I have called the scheduler at the

dr's office twice and gotten no call back.  A week ago Thursday I saw him and

they said it would take 7-10 days for them to get authorization for the ESI's

but I called the insurance this morning thinking maybe it was hung up there but

they haven't even received a request from the dr's office!  The lady at the

insurance was so nice, she said she would call them because she can actually

authorize 3 ESI's within 5 months over the phone, they don't even need to submit

a request.  Go figure, the insurance is actually going out of their way to

authorize a

procedure so I can get it done.

Based on my own personal experience, neither of these drugs worked for me.

In fact, nothing has worked for me. I am scheduled for an L5/S1 diskectomy on

9/29, with hopes of relieving pressure on nerves and thereby reducing sciatica

pain.

Hi Lyndon

I saw this earlier today but was confounded by the fact that they

didn't define conservative care. Did that mean medication, pt and rest,

or some form of spinal manipulation, or chiropractic adjustments?

Sciatica from lumbar disk disease is a common and troublesome problem.

Five investigators from The Netherlands report in the /BMJ/ in 2008 on

a

randomized controlled trial at 9 Dutch hospitals of 283 patients who

had

had sciatica for 6-12 weeks.^[1] After 1 and 2 years, there were no

significant differences in disability between the surgical and the

conservative arms of the trial. Twenty percent of both groups reported

an unsatisfactory outcome at 2 years. However, surgery did provide more

rapid relief of leg pain early on, and 44% of the group treated

conservatively eventually had surgery. Both treatments of sciatica are

obviously unsatisfactory for many patients.

Rick:

Good point. I thought of that too and assumed they were only given

conservative " medical " care. Otherwise, I think the success rate of the

" conservative " group would have been higher.

Hey ,

It's also called nerve gliding. I did have some good benefits from it, but it

was and is incredibly painful. It was the one thing I just could not stick with.

Nerve pain has a way of getting to you the way non-nerve pain doesn't. Oh man it

hurt so bad!

I do not believe it does any harm. I think it's a good technique. ---

Hi I'm new to the group.  I see that many of you are suffering from chronic

pain.  I hope and pray you all will find relief and healing.  All things are

possible with God.

I had my L5 and S1 fused last October.  My surgeon says my recovery has been

average.  My biggest concern is I still have a lot of sciatic pain.  I get a lot

of muscle spams because of it which as many of you know intensifies the pain.

I'm in physical therapy and my therapist swears by the flossing technique.

Flossing is where you stretch out the leg and manipulate the foot back and forth

which causes the nerve to move up and down in your leg.  He believes he needs to

break up scar tissue from a previous surgery at L5 for a herniated disc.  For me

flossing has been extremely painful and can cause me to have lingering pain for

days on end.

Have any of you had this experience?  I'm wondering if it does more harm then

good.

Thanks

Thanks again!  Your right about how painful it is.  It could be a good tech

niche for interrogations.

+++Hi . Here's a Success Stories about sciatica, and there may be others

- I just did a search for one:

http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/success/ss29a.php

This is an overall healing program, so it isn't just for curing candida. That

is because it builds up the immune system and the strength of the body, and it

increases the body ability to heal itself the way Nature intended. This is done

by:

1) Consuming " proper nutrients " (diet plus supplements),

2) Eliminating toxins and foods that feed candida (they also feed bacteria and

cancer),

3) Eliminating damaging foods, and

4) Eliminating toxins in general.

I had the same type of surgery in 1992 at the age of 12. I don't remember the

degree of my curves, but I don't think it was that high.

I too have sciatica (in both legs) and low back pain due mainly to two herniated

discs (L4/L5 and L5/S1), which initially started in 1996 due to my idiot doctor

saying it was safe to go back to dance class. The pain got worse two years ago

(mostly due to having to carry around a toddler), and is not getting better

(actually getting worse). I've seen a physiatrist, who started me on some meds,

sent me to PT, and tried selective nerve root blocks. I'm now seeing a pain

management doctor, who put me on more meds, sent me to PT again, aquatic

therapy, acupuncture, and trigger point injections. The meds help some, but not

enough. The other treatments only provided small or short term pain level

reduction.

Are you seeing a doctor for your pain? Are you receiving any forms of treatment,

such as those I listed above? Any relief?

I too would be interested in hearing from any other individuals in a similar

situation. I am looking for ideas going forward, since the future looks pretty

bleak right now.

high and some days just drag it and clinch my hands.

Lida,

I saw a physiatrist, not a psychiatrist. A physiatrist is a physician

specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation. The physiatrist I saw

focuses primarily on non-pharmaceutical treatments for chronic back pain. I

was referred to this physician by my primary care physician my sudden

increase in back pain did not improve. In particular, this physician

suggested PT, TENS, and selective nerve root blocks. He also prescribed

lyrica and codeine, in addition to the tramadol I was already taking.

I don't know what a " Tarlov " cyst is, but I had/have a synovial cyst that was

pressing into the nerve roots in my spinal column. I was able to have that cyst

ruptured and it hasn't bothered my in about a year. Please tell me more about

the cyst you have.

Have you tried a memory foam mattress? It's great for keeping the spine from

curving when you lie down. I don't have a cyst but my spine is fused and I had

lots of pain/trouble when I had a regular bed. Now with the memory foam I don't

have the stress on my unbendable spine.

It's actually supposed to help keep you cool. I have one and I still have hot

flashes but they're no better or worse since getting my memory foam mattress. My

back is definately better tho. I live in southern NM so I don't need any

additional heat!
