Guest guest
I'm so sorry I'm not completely sure who it is whose daughter has Raynaud's. Is it Martha's daughter Christy? I was asking about this last year (can't remember but I BET it was about when the cold weather started, most likely) because a few times all of a sudden the bottom of 's feet turned deathly white, no color at all. It did not bother her at all though. I mentioned it to the ped who discounted it pretty much because her skin did not turn blue and red after and there was no discomfort. Well, in the past couple months every once in a while would make the comment, " My feet hurt from walking " but it seemed such a far fetched comment I paid it no mind. Then yesterday she was crying that her feet were tingling and didn't feel right and sure enough, they were white as a corpse. When the color returned she was complaining more (general loud whining), but when I asked if they still bothered her or were they better she said they were better (then why all the yelling, I wondered!??) and they did not seem overly red. This morning she wanted me to put lotion on her like me (I'm using bag balm and cotton booties for my snagglefeet which are like loufahs with toes) and I was massaging her feet and one foot (bottom) turned corpse-like and I had to secretly slap it repeatedly to finally get some color back. She didn't complain though. So if it was not Martha, I apologize! But I was wondering what you do for this besides try to keep the feet warmer. is one of those kids who runs around NAKED even in winter, I have to goad her to even wear underwear. So warm slippers might be tough. Even cute, fun ones, I already tried. THANKS!! (mom to Kate, born 9/19/02; and , age 3-3/4 -- currently has polysaccharide antibody def, previously had transient IgG, IgA, t-cell & other defs)
Guest guest
Raynauds " disease " is a hypothyroid symptom. I imagine iodine would work for it. my symptoms completely disappeared on Armour. Gracia Kathy Barr wrote: > > Is anyone using iodine to treat Raynaud's? Guest guest
I still have mine, unfortunately. I've been on Iodoral 50 (plus other recommended supplements) for about two years. Guest guest
then you need to do something different--maybe get thyroid meds. gracia cirrus4299 wrote: > > I still have mine, unfortunately. Guest guest
My MIL, who is under Dr. Brownstein’s care for the past 6 months, has Reynaud’s, but is hyper, not hypo. She is taking 25mg iodine (that is all he is telling her to take), and she had not seen any improvement in her Reynaud’s yet. But I think there are a lot more things she is still doing that are adversely affecting positive change. She has a myriad of problems, and is seeing some progress, so that is encouraging, but would like to see more. Guest guest
wow I don't understand that, b/c high iodine was once used to treat hyperthyroidism. my TSH has always been low and I had a partial thyroidectomy b/c of hyper and goiter , and I take 100mg Iodoral. I would think she would need more iodine. even on too low a dose of Armour, the Reynauds was gone. Guest guest
So is Iodoral NOT 'thyroid meds'? Maybe not 'meds' but same as/or similar as in replacement for 'meds'? > > > > > > > > Is anyone using iodine to treat Raynaud's? Guest guest
Nothing for thyroid. I would like to try some OTC thyroid " supplement " to see if that would make a difference, but have no idea what. Any suggestions? BTW I'm in Canada and it's perfect time, winter is coming and also my Raynaud's symptoms. I have to mention that Iodoral improved my fibrocystic breasts A LOT! I still have small cysts, so maybe iodine/iodide is working on that first? Thanks JJ > > > > > > I still have mine, unfortunately. Guest guest
in my experience OTC supplements don't work too well. maybe they help a little. I tried Standard Process thyroid and adrenal stuff. are you taking enough Iodoral? Gracia cirrus4299 wrote: > > > Nothing for thyroid. Guest guest
Iodoral is not thyroid meds--it is food that the thyroid gland can use to make hormones. some ppl only need iodine alone and some ppl have to add thyroid hormone to feel well. I need Armour 240mg and Iodoral 100mg, but doc removed half my thyroid gland (unnecessary surgery) and then I was untreated for 30 years. Guest guest
, I just saw all the links for Raynaud's. Thank you!!! Tracie
Guest guest
Yes, I've had experience with LDN lessening the symptoms of Raynauds. My thyroid is fine, but I still have that problem. I would really recommend NOT running your hands under warm water when you are having symptoms. It can cause damage in the veins if you warm things up too fast. Instead, try using mittens with hand warmers, toe warmers for your feet, and a space heater before you have symptoms. When it does happen, try to get indoors out of the cold and help your body raise its temperature gradually. Magnesium Glycinate (500-600 mg) really helps with circulation and Raynaud's as well. Other types of magnesium may cause intestinal issues. It stops the tingling in my legs and numbness in my hands, and also stops the horrible charlie horses I get in my sleep. Also, calcium and vitamin B12 are very important. Cami SLE (LDN 2 years) http://healingfromlupus.blogspot.com
