Guest guest
Hi Barb..I loved living in St Pete. Dave and I went to Tarpon Springs a couple of times and loved that area too...but we were there when the June bugs were there. LOL I forget what they called them...midgees? They were just starting I think. But it sure was fun to shop in the village and took Tucker on the charter boat with us. That was fun. I love that area and jotted down nice places close by to look for " our " mobile home when he retired. I've been to New Port Richey also...and like that. My ex installed a ct scanner in the hospital there eons ago. I feel bad for you. When you have pain in your feet, nothing makes you feel good. I was going to get a Pride Chair...since I bought one for my dad years ago and when he died, we gave it to a friend of mine. But I was going to buy one before the enbrel but feeling so much better now that its on hold right now. It sure is a huge help to get you into a standing position. I remember I used to scream like a tennis player just to try to get out of a seated position. I don't know if that helped but it seemed to make me feel better. LOL I know the darvocet really helps with my pain if I need it. I wish you could find something that woud help you. I'm sorry that you may be in a flare. those are horrible. I was in one a little after I met dave and I apologized cause I spent the better part of a week in bed. I told him that I'm not usually such a slug....but....even moving from one side to the other side of my body was so painful. Stress doesn't help us either. I'm surprised that I didn't have a flare when dave was dx'd with leukemia and after he passed. I was preparing myself for a doozy of a flare. That's a shame that you have to stop working on things you love to do. Can your dr find something that may work better for you? Your story sounds like mine. I take the 5 mg of prednisone also...it really has helped me. I've been on the enbrel since 2005. It's amazing...time flies. Keep us posted on your surgery...hugs...a
Guest guest
Hi a. I know how much you miss Dave, especially being alone now. It is like 1/2 of you is missing. That is how I feel now too. Starting life over alone is so challenging for the both of us.  I know you love Florida, and I would love you to live near me. St. Pete is such a nice area and beaches, etc. My good friend lives in New Port Richey, which I do love. I go to the beach with her in Tarpon Springs. I sure do love Tarpon Springs. It is a great little fishing village and so quaint.  I am so glad for you a that those meds. have helped you feel so much better, and that you have a better quality of life now. Once we find the right " cocktail of meds " to make us feel better and out of that awful pain is wonderful.  Right now my feet are in so much pain, I can hardly walk or stand on them. I am taking my RX pain meds, but it is not denting the pain. I could just scream with it all. I also will be glad to get this damn nodule removed as it is just so painful. I had my blood drawn yesterday, and I wondering if I am in a RA flare. How one pair of feet can hurt so much I just don't know.I haven't had a flare for over 1 1/2 years now. I bet the stress in my life has finally got my RA active again. I did not want that to happen. I do think the pain and stiffness in my hands are due to my RA. I have wanted to get back to my folk art painting, but my hands can't do that right now. I had to stop working on my needlepoint too. Too much pain.  Our lives with RA are so challenging each day. I am thankful to not be in a wheelchair. I did buy a Pride chair for my bedroom, which is just so wonderful. Makes getting in and out of the chair so easy. Plus, it reclines so I have my feet up all the time. Being electric makes it so easy on me.  I hope my MRI is clear also, then I can have the surgery. Thanks for your well wishes.  I have never been able to get off the Pred. and for me, it is a miracle drug. I know I could not get out of bed without it. I am back to my orig. dose of 5 mgs. a day. Doesn't seem possible I have been on it daily for 6 years now.  I will keep you posted when I get a date to have my foot done. I hope it is soon.  Take care of yourself and talk soon. Rest as much as you can.  Love and hugs,  Barbara From: rascalsniche@... <rascalsniche@...> Subject: [ ] Barb Date: Tuesday, April 20, 2010, 12:27 PM  Hi Barb...I hope the MRi is all clear and no infection is found. Good luck with your surgery. it will be nice to get it over with and be able to have less pain. Yes..one year since has passed. Seems like yesterday and then again, seems like forever since I've spoken to him. It's hard. Things are still up in the air with the house so I don't know if I'll even be able to stay here...but we'll see. I pray everyday that I can...if not, there is a reason for it. Maybe its a sign that I need to move to florida. LOL I used to get that really bad pain and stiffness in my hands in the morning. The prednisone and especially Enbrel has been a Godsend to me. I feel almost like new. Except I can't lift anything over a few pounds, I don't have any strength in my fingers, my hands and feet are deformed, etc. But other than that, its all good. LOL It may be ra that is causing the hands to be stiff like that. We have a friend in the corvette club that deals with skin cancer on a regular basis...she is always going into get a spot removed on her back, face, etc. I think she's dealt with it for over 30 yrs....or more. It's just something that she does on a regular basis, like you, to keep ahead of it. Hope you're enjoying your day today. Hang in there Barb...you have many friends here. Hugs..a
