Guest guest
Hi Steve, Welcome to the group. I'm sorry you have to be here, but you have joined a wonderful group of people. How long have you been taking MTX & folic acid? Have you talked to your rheumy about biologics? They are the next step if MTX alone doesn't work well. I took MTX for 3 months before I added Enbrel, which didn't work. I stayed on it a month before starting Remicade in March 2000. I have been in remission ever since. Glucosamine, chondrontin & MSM are actually recommended for osteoarthritis, not RA, although they can help with RA-induced remission. However, many OTC meds counteract MTX so it is vital that you talk to your rheumy and your pharmacist. (Having a great pharmacist is often overlooked but vital). Take care, Steph in VA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am not up to speed on the treatments, but I am learning. Currently take methotrexate and folic acid. Weather changes kill me and I cannot sit for long periods of time. My pain is in my hands, feet, and back. A question I have is this: If glucosamine, chondroitin, and MSM are allegedly good for joint health, would it possibly help with the RA or could it counter act the methotrexate and folic acid? Thanks for any help. Steve S in Arkansas
