Guest guest
oh, i see.. i've been losing my hearing in my left ear for the past 10 plus years along with tinnitus. Aparently my right ear never worked but i was not aware of it until my left ear started to go. I'm wearing what i'm told by my audiologist to be the strongest hearing aid and still having trouble hearing clearily what is being said. I was wondering if it would be wise to have the implant done on my nonworking ear. You say you were implanted in the deaft ear & wearing the hearing aid on the other? I'm sorry about what happened with you in the store. Don't let it ruin you holiday cheer. Keep smiling! Enjoy your weekend! Thanks

It really is a personal choice. Both my ear has about the same amount of loss. That leave me to decide which ear to implant. I wanted right, but that ear hasn't been simulated for about 25 years. In my case, I might be better off to implant my left ear, the ear with hearing aid because it has been in use and it would help to speed up the process of learning to hear. I think the best person to help you decide which ear to implant would be your implant team. Guest guest
, Not sure what they do today for implants as I had mine back in 1990 however, I had lot ALL my hearing in both ears in a 3 hour period so my doctor chose my left ear to implant. I asked him why that ear in particular and he said it was easier to work on the left side , well times change now . So it is up to you and your doctor. B. Guest guest
Hi ! I'm glad to hear you let nothing ruin your holiday cheer! Tell me about the promintory testing to see if the nerve is still functioning. Is this part of your audiological testing to determine candidacy for implant or do you have to specifically ask for it? I appreceiate u taking the time to respond. Enjoy!

Guest guest
Hi ...I had a horrible reaction to Humira...now I'm on enbrel that I self mix..no preservative which is a caustic acid. No burn. I injected the humira and it never stopped burning....the burn went on and on. I called the rheumy and he said that next time I injected to use benadryl for a few days before and that morning. It helped a little but not much. The original site that burnt and kept burning was awful. I couldn't wear pants or anything over my leg. at night, I would lay in bed with the sheet off of my leg and a ceiling fan blowing...it was that painful. My reaction was rare and I told my rheumy and wrote to Abbott and to the FDA about my experience. the area were I injected caused a pressure ulcer sore and I needed to go to the wound care center where they measure the area where the needle went in (about 3/4 inch) and I had to pack and unpack it three to four times a day. In about one month the wound was clean and healed but it left a big crater in my leg and took out part of the muscle. Nice look so no swimsuits for me. I then asked for the enbrel that I self mix because it doesn't contain a preservative. I compared both ingredients in enbrel premix and humira premix and the only difference in the two was the caustic acid in the humira. I 'm sure that was the culprit. I've been on enbrel self mix since 2005 and its a Godsend for me. Swelling and a red bump or itch at the injection site is pretty normal..it goes away but the rest she is dealing with is not normal. I forgot if she sees a rheumatologist or not...if not, she should see him..hes a specialist. She really needs to see a rheumatologist who is a specialist in this order. He can also explain the cancer risk...which is not a huge risk. has posted articles about that in our archive...biologics and cancer risk. I love the enbrel for me but its like everything trial and error. I'm on enbrel 25 mg two times a week and 5 mg of prednisone and seems to work for me. Good luck..have her dr refer her to a rheumy. a
