Guest guest
Hi everyone, All this talk about doctors thinking we are crazy.... I thought I would add in my quick story. Its not really a story... LOL. As most of you knwo Im having surgery in 5 days. I really like my NSG but after recovery I will need to go back to seeing a Ngst. I need a new one.... Any one know of a good one in the Atlanta area. One that will not take me for a fool. My doc now is good about calling in my sleeping meds. But, when it comes to pain..... he really fairy dances around.... I need real strong meds... A few weeks ago, I requested something for pain until my surgery. He called me in something for mood disorders. Now I realize some meds like this do help.... but I need the real stuff. And get this, at my last apt. He actually sugested I do yoga. This will take care of all your problems he said.... Im not knocking Yoga.... But, It will not help my burning nerve pain, my legs hurting so bad I want to cut them off, ect, ect. Sorry fro rambling... I just wanted to let yall know, Your not alone with the Doc stories... as far as people coming out all of the sudden havind ACM symptoms..... Is ACM not clearly something diagnoised from films.... herniation or not, reduced flow ?? Its not something they can just say..oh, It sounds like it, I think that is what you have.... hugs, Jenn inGA
Guest guest
Hydromyelia is the same as syringomyelia or syrinx. Which is a fluid filled cyst in the spinal column. I don t know about the response thing. Anyone else know? NaNCI (no subject) > Hello all, > OK, here it goes. > I just got home from the stupid Dr. I hate all this as I know all of you do > also. And it also said I do have Hoffman's response (what's that)? and >then he goes on to say my symptoms are from fibromyalgia. Here is an article that I was able to find. I apologize for sending the text instead of the URL, but I couldn't get it because of the way I got there. I have put in some blank lines for readability. Denis Sung, MD, Los Angeles, CA C Wang, MD, Los Angeles, CA A positive Hoffmann's reflex usually implies an upper motor neuron lesion from spinal cord compression. Although this reflex is commonly tested, the significance of this reflex in asymptomatic patients is not known. The purpose of this study is to determine the clinical significance of a positive Hoffmann's reflex in asymptomatic patients. Sixteen patients without cervical pain or radiculopathy and a positive Hoffmann's reflex were prospectively studied with cervical radiographs and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). These studies were read by a radiologist and two orthopaedic spine surgeons. Positive findings were correlated with a detailed neurological examination. All sixteen patients were asymptomatic. The group consisted of twelve males and four females with an average age of forty-seven years. Fourteen of sixteen patients demonstrated spondylosis on cervical radiographs. The MRI studies revealed pathological findings in all sixteen patients. Fifteen patients had definite cervical pathology with neural compression by either an intervertebral disc or an osteophyte. The remaining patient had a T5-T6 thoracic disc with resultant compression. No treatment was instituted and the clinical course of each patient was not affected. Although the presence of cervical cord impingement is extremely high in these patients, no treatment was rendered specifically to address the cervical pathology. Therefore, the presence of a positive Hoffmann's reflex in asymptomatic patients strongly suggests underlying cervical pathology, but it does not warrant further evaluation with either cervical radiographs or MRI since the management and clinical course are not affected by positive studies. Guest guest
Mine got better until the symptoms started to come back. =( Before I got sick, I worked in fast food. I could be at the back of the restaurant and remember and entire order for two people until I got to the front to ring it up. Now I cannot remember what I just thought of to put on the shopping list. =) in Texas (no subject) hi all wow, no offense, but i'm glad i'm not the only one that acts like i've got alzheimer's ! my poor hubbie and kids really laught at me and play it off as a BIG joke, but they know i can't remember anything without a note. okay, next big question - for those of you that have had the decompression, does the memory loss get better post op? chris Help section: /help/ NOTE: NCC refers to posts with No Chiari Content Unsubscribe Yourself: chiari-unsubscribeegroups WACMA Home: www.pressenter.com/~wacma WACMA List: www.eGroups.com/group/chiari

While in Brooklyn I stayed with Betsy and Klein. 281-A Henry St. Brooklyn, NY 11201 If you want their phone number, e mail me privately. Their B and B is within walking distance of Long Island College hospital. Mention my name when you call. They don't like to take strangers. Tell them you have chiari like me :-) I believe it was around $75.00 per night to stay at their B and B. It is a brownstone building and has 5 floors. They rent three rooms out. If they don't have a room they will always give you others in the area. and Irene should also be able to send you a list of accommodations. If your consult is at SUNY, you would need to take a car service. Betsy and would give you a number for that. I flew Angel Flight twice and it worked out great. We landed in NJ and we took a car service from there. That runs different prices. Ours cost $100. If you drive, you can try to find a spot on the street, or park at the LICH parking lot. They will give you a break if you are there for more than one night. There are great places to eat in the LICH area. It is a very family oriented area. Jeff walked back and forth at late hours from the hospital to the B and B, and never had a problem. Kathleen

Guest guest
Aliceanne, I have the 28th edition of Dorland's, which I purchased probably around 5 years ago. I believe there is now a 29th edition available. Maybe she was able to get it so cheaply because it is not the latest edition. Guest guest
This is the type of attitude that people come to NMTC to get away from. There are plenty of newsgroups and lists where anything goes. NMTC is not one of them.
