I hear where you are coming from! Looking back on high school

pictures, even though I wasn't ideal weight then, I was way smaller

than I thought I was and I keep thinking of all the time, energy and

money wasted on dieting and poor self esteem cause I thought I was

huge and now I'm bigger than ever because of that dieting! makes me

angry for falling for the diet traps and all the advice of well

meaning friends, families and 'professionals'. I could've been

spending all this time, money and energy on other more important

things... but I had to go through that to learn it doesn't work.

Had I not, I might not be ready to listen to and trust my body...

On a slightly different note - I can't remember who put it to me

this way - " what do you do when you lose your keys? You search for

and find them again. So why do you want to lose weight? " - my

husband keeps reminding me of that when I worry about losing weight

(which is more these days, eating what I want - maybe in excess

while learning my body's language). it's enough to wake me up and

remember I'm not trying to lose weight cause I don't want to find it

again like I've done on all the past diets - and then some, but I

want to get healthy, listen to my body and once it's happy it'll let

go of excess weight and I'll finally get rid of it...

If we think thin, beautiful women have it easier, think of this -

I've been reading the biography of Jenna on -adult movie star

(friend recommended it - it's a great read! " How to Make Love Like A

Porn Star " )... she's beautiful and thin and throughout her book she

keeps saying, even when she was young, she was so shy, self

conscious, low self esteem. Throughout much of her life (so far

that I've read - I'm at her early twenties) she's still self

destructive because of low self esteem, low self respect, doesn't

like her body, not happy with herself... go figure... it's not when

we are thin that we'll be happier and have a better life, it's when

we allow ourselves to be happier we'll have a better life - it's not

you'll believe it when you see it, it's you'll see it when you

believe it...

Great thought e - and so dead on too! Sadly I've come to the

conclusion that of all the wonderful things our bodies do for us -

being able to have an 'enough' feedback regarding 'storage' (aka fat)

isn't one of these, at least not in regards to hunger/eating ;-) Well

short of our muscles, joints and skeletons giving out due to weight

needed to be supported that is. The real problem I have is having

ignored all the other, excellent feedback my body does have for me.

Unfortunately because I have learned to override those messages with

what I choose to listen to from external sources (aka diet mentality),

I now have to re-learn my own body signals! Happily IE directs me to

do this in a self loving and fun fashion. All I have to do is give

myself the gift of time and patience.
