My rheumaologist says that there are fewer side effects from the biologic

if you take a small amount of another drug along with them. We chose

Remicade as the biologic because I've been experiencing some Crohn's symptoms,

so

my GI doctor recommended we try Remicade for both RA and Crohn's. At first

I was on Methotrexate for the second drug. I had a couple of days a week

when I felt as though I had the flu. Then he tried Arava and that didn't work

at all for me.

I went to the RA doc and asked if I could do injectable Methotrexate

instead of the pills and he suggested we try Imuran instead. I don't get the

nausea with Imuran that I did with Mtx, but I think my intestines are perhaps a

little more touchy.

The last two infusions, my Remicade amount was raised because my

inflammation numbers were up again. I also had to have a cortisone shot in my

right

knee. My orthopedic called it a flare.
