Guest guest
Hi , I had severe acid reflux from H. Pylori last year and was on Omeprazole (Prilosec) for 6 months. I now have joint pains (like RA but no clear diagnosis yet) and I have come across articles suggesting some links between H. Pylori to reactive arthritis and Omeprazole to polyarthralgia! It's like a chicken and egg thing... Regards, Rose From: Sent: Wednesday, May 26, 2010 1:12 PM Subject: [ ] Esophagael Cancer or Osteoporosis I was wondering whats better??? None of course, but my point is while on some of these drugs for RA, do you find you have GERDS or upset stomach so you take a pill for that, whether it be, zantac, prilosec or Protonix. In doing this, its believed your chances of bone fractures increase and/or osteoporosis. This concerns me as I take protonix at least twice weekly and zantac almost daily because the Celebrex that I am on is causing awful indigestion and some stomach pains. I have tried taking with food, nixing spicy or acidic foods but still end up taking an antacid. I am concerned because I already have beginning of osteoporosis and it just seems like a vicious cycle between caring for my bones or living in pain. Guest guest
Hi , I had terrible indigestion and upset stomach aches and pains from all the meds I am taking. I do take Rantidine (zantac) daily where before it was just as needed. I'm also on methotrextate and take a nausea pill for that too -metoclorpramide. To me, it didn't seem to make a difference with or without food, I was still sick. Now a year later after trying to find the right meds, I do not have as much nausea or indigestion. But it's a trade-off like you said. While I'm getting relief for the indigestion, etc., what is being damaged from these meds? It just seems like a no win situation.
