isn't doing what I thought it would. I'm still taking all my other meds that

were controlling my RA and started the Humira 3 months ago. Now I'm having a

big flare with angry red, swollen joints on my index fingers at present.

I've found no help from Humira but a lot of difference in my pocketbook. I

had almost gotten off Prednisone, down to 2.5 mg, but had to go back up to

10 mg per day until the Rheumy says I can drop it back down.

This, plus getting chewed up rescuing a dog that was tangled in a fence,

and the Prostate Cancer, keeping 6 big dogs that aren't ours, all the rest

of the things that I can't get done are driving me to drink (I wish). Even

the church group that was supposed to fix our front ramp and add one to the

back door never showed up after I bought the materials. I guess I'm having a

pity party. Everybody is invited...

I'm sorry your having a flare, and the humira doesn't seem to be

helping. What other RA meds are you on? I've been on humira for quite

awhile. The first time, I didn't feel it worked that well, so they put

me on enbrel. It worked for awhile, and then stopped. I was put back

on humira, and it's doing ok, with mtx.

Talk to your rheumy, if it's not working your just wasting money. Your

doctor should find another RA med that will help. I know it's so

frustrating, but if you find the right one, it makes your life feel so

much better.

Oh Dennis, your a dog lover!!! I am too, and I know it's hard for you

to take care of all these dogs. Your an angel though, taking care of

these dogs, when you don't feel good. If I see a dog on the road, I'll

pick it up, bring it home, fatten it up, and find a good home:)

There should be in your area, where you can post the dogs

on the group, and find them a good home. Some of the people on the

group might take them, and foster them.

Did you get chewed up bad? Makes sure you doctor it, you sure don't

want an infection.

I hope the church group gets over there, and gets your ramps fixed. I

know it's hard when your not able to do it.

Hey, I'm here for the party, lol

Take care of yourself, and know your in my thoughts,

Tawny

Humira worked fine for me it was the cost that made me have to stop using

it. Then medicare part-D came along and my RA doctor put in a trial for

Rituxin. That worked fine the first time around and now I have been flaring

since my last treatment in March of this year. Told my RA doctors Nurse

practitioner about it and she just gave me suggestions like losing some weight

and the swelling was due to the heat and women swell more during the summer

months and that age has a factor in it. I am 49 years old and been

menopausal since I was 31.

Good grief, (((((Dennis))))) - when it rains, it pours!! I am so sorry to hear

about your flare! Was the dog that chewed you up one of the 6 big dogs you all

are caring for? I'd be telling the owners that they have 24 hours to come and

get them or they're all going to the Humane Society! Its sad that your church

family makes a promise and then doesn't follow through. Have you talked to your

pastor? Maybe there is some miscommunication there and they didn't realize you

had the materials?

You hang in there - and have your pity party all you want. We've all been

there/done that/bought the t-shirt and will do it again at some point. We're

here for you.....Doreen :)

Hi Dennis: Thanks for your party invitation. Gosh I was so sorry to

read all the troubles you are having. Sorry the Humira is not working

for you. What is your next step? I think of you a lot, and so sorry

about your Prostrate Cancer. When it rains, it pours.

Good Lord, return those dogs. Much to much stress to handle right now.

That is not good for you.

Wow, you are having a really bad flare, and I feel badly for you. Too

much suffering!!! When do you see your Rheumy again? Have you called

to tell them how you are feeling, and what is going on?

It is good you can vent here. Good to get it off your chest. We are

all here for you always, we care about you very much. I pray things

settle down for you Dennis. All that stress and suffering is not good

for you

Praying for you to have pain free days ahead. I care.

Hugs,

Barbara

Oh no she didn't!!! Someone needs to tell that NP to get a grip! We all KNOW

that our weight doesn't make things any easier, but the MEDS are a big

contributing factor to our weight gain - not to mention the decrease in activity

due to the pain! Wow, that just makes my blood boil! I've been telling these

doctors for years that my weight came as a result of the pain - not the other

way around as they all seem to think. I think I would call back and ask to speak

with your Rheumy directly! Or make another appointment. And be sure to tell him

what kind of NP he's got working for him!

BTW - what is your first name? We all like to know who we're talking to. Best of

luck to you. Keep us posted.....Doreen :)
