Guest guest
Gail, I have had fibro. for 8-9 years. In the last 2 years, I developed an incredible pain in my feet. It was very much a stabbing pain that would almost bring me to my knees when it happened. I complained about it to my Dr. for a long enough time that it was decided to try Tegretol. Tegretol is used experiementally, in very small doses will also treats nerve pain. This is new therapy stuff that has only come about in the last few years. It worked like a charm for me! I have also heard from people who it did no good at all. So, just like everything else, it works for some. It is a minimal dose, and just once or twice a day is enough to keep them away. I know that it works, because as soon as I miss my morning dose, I begin to have the stabbing pains in my feet again. If logic tells you that in the long run nothing you do makes a difference, then don't live in the long run. Life is a series of moments--to live each one is to succeed. Describe this pain If anyone here is suffering from pain in their hands and feet could you please describe your pain. For a couple of years now I've had terrible crushing feelings on the sides of my feet and just recently the outer sides of my hands. I do however think that there is something a little different with the pain I'm now getting in my left hand compared to the pain in my right hand a few weeks ago. Right now it's also in my left ring finger and sometimes shoots pain up my arm. I'm thinking this is some sort of nerve issue. I've had carpal tunnel surgeries on both hands 4 years ago so I really don't think that it's this. My doctor blames it on my diabetes however I just can't believe this as I'm doing really well with my blood sugars. Anywho, the pain I get makes me feel as though I've got a fractured bone. I've had an x-ray on my foot and it showed nothing. I can't ring out a wash cloth, put any pressure on my hands, twist a cap off a jar or anything like this without terrible pain in my hands. This has only been going on for about a month now and I'm totally baffled. Anyone else ever experienced these things in your hands and feet? If so, what was your diagnosis and how did you treat it? Guest guest
I get pains in my hands and feet something terrible at times. I do think it's part of my Fibro. I now have good meds and don't get them as often or as badly, but I still get them once in a while. I sometimes will go and get my paraffin bath thingy and stick my hands in hot wax. That seems to help some. I also went and got a pedicure recently. It was great and my feet felt good for quite a while. I'm thinking about getting one of the little home ones. They used a neat mineral salt thing in the big one, and left me in it for a good 45 minutes. It was heaven. Ann K. Guest guest
I get very bad burning pain in my feet, as if I was touching something red hot. That is slightly more to the sides of my feet than the soles, and I also feel that my heels are in a crushing vice. This is worse when I just wake up. I take Neurontin which now 99% controls the burning and which makes the crushing pain much easier. For the crushing pain it helps if I rub it gently. I also get 'electric shocks' throughout my body, mostly in the legs. These don't hurt too much until they reach somewhere which is already hurting and then they multiply that pain. This too has almost disappeared as long as I take the Neurontin. My hands get bad pins and needles, are numb when it comes to touching things but hurt badly on the inside! Try explaining that to anyone who doesn't have the same thing.. I am guessing you probably do. Occasionally this travels up my arms, sometimes I can feel it moving up one arm, across my shoulders and down the other arm. My doctor says that this is all neuropathy. My hands are nearly always impossible to clench into a fist, and I can not always grip things. Although I have diabetes it is thought that this Neuropathy (hands and feet) is caused by Fibromyalgia rather than diabetes. Penny UK > > Gail <gbinette@... Guest guest
Hi Gail, I have the same problem in both of my hands. My right hand is worse than the left & it effects my ring & pinkie fingers all the way up to my shoulders in both arms. My hands & arms fall asleep at night and go completely numb at randomn times throughout the day. I went to see a hand surgeon & he did tests on both of my arms and diagnosed me with cubital tunnel & said that my ulnar nerve in both arms is pinched at the elbows. I'm scheduled for surgery on my right arm at the end of this month. Guest guest
, Yes I used to use those but they don't help me anymore because the problem I have is that the nerve is pinched at the elbow. I would still have numbness in my hands & arms up to the shoulder even wearing the hand splints. Amy > > Have you tried the hand splints to keep your wrist straight during the night. I find when i sleep with my wrists bent I can't use them the next day. > michelle
