Guest guest
....I think you can ride it out. The sore throat I never got so it may just be coincidence. I would take the next dose on saturday. If you're worried you can always call. Guest guest
Hi , After my first Enbrel 50mg injection last friday, I had flu like symptoms inc. a sore throat sat and sun. By mon it had gone. All you can do is see if it subsides tomorrow and if not, then I wouldn't do the next injection.. If you have a temperature, they do say not to take Enbrel. I'm lucky, as here in the UK, I have a 24hr telephone contact with a nurse from the drug manufacturer, who gives advice over the phone or even will call a doctor out if needed. I think we all become highly tuned to our bodies and instinctively know if something isn't right. Why not give your doctor a call anyway, they might just put your mind at rest. I do hope it's just a blip. I'm thinking of you , as I have my 2nd one tomorrow. Guest guest
Hi : Sorry to read that you aren't feeling so good after your shot. I hope that is temporary, and that you will feel better tomorrow. Did you call your Rheumy yet? It might be a good idea to let him/her know what is going on with you. Wishing you better days ahead. Please rest when you can. Guest guest
Hi - If you can't reach your doctor, you could call your pharmacist to make sure this is not an adverse reaction to the Enbrel. As far as feeling like a pain to your Rheumy, the way I look at it is WE PAY THEM for a service. We have every right to call them for any and all concerns we may have that can not wait until our next scheduled appointment. I would call to make sure its ok to take the next injection with a sore throat. It could very well be something else going on - like a cold - and just be a coincidence that it happened within 5 hours after your 1st injection. Keep us posted. We care.....Doreen > > hi my pain got a lot worse last nite 5 h after my 1st inj of enbrel > and today my throat is very sore. is this normal? do i need to call > my doc or just ignore and take the next 25 mg shot on sat.? i don't > want to be a pain and call him over every little thing. > > thanks > monique >

Guest guest
good to hear that i'm not the only one who freaks out over taking meds. seems like i am a walking pharm these days though. enbrel, cortisone, morphine. yoikes. ah well better than being in agony right? doc didn't call back so i guess it was no big deal. i feel fine now anyway. i wake up each am though with white coated tongue and chalky cotton taste. is that the morphine? thanks monique The Enbrel could be giving you that sore throat but stress and anxiety will definitely make it worst. I wound up with a sore throat as well but I noticed it the week after my first Enbrel shot. I didn't have a fever so I rode it out. When I saw my rheumy he wound up sending me to an ear throat and nose specialist to make sure I didn't have sores and rule out strep throat. He found no strep and no sores which was good news. But I went back after feeling no relief. Turns out that my anxiety level was causing the tightness and soreness in my throat. He prescribed an anxiety medicine and thank God I feel fine now. I freak out over any meds I take these days, including vitamins, so it made sense that the anxiety was making the throat soreness worst. Did your doctor call you back? What did he/she say? Guest guest
hi i've had RA since 97. was very mild until 99 though when i was diagnosed. i went on plaq which did nothing. then in summer 2000 i went on minocin - 1st y 100 mg a day then upped to 200 mg a day. was in complete remission. then in late 02 i got very sick - sever nausea vertigo fatigue. 03 went off mino. took 2 y to eliminate the severe nausea dizziness fatigue but then in 04 RA started coming back hard. been trying natural remedies since then til last fall when i tried mtx which made me sick for a few mos so i stopped taking it. now fed up with pain and disability so after much fear decided to give enbrel a go. i'm not really so much scared of the enbrel now. more scared of it not working. how bout you? what's your story? monique Hi! I was worried about you! (phew)...... ..but I'm glad you're doing better and you're 2nd shot was an uneventful one! And yes....I am the worst person when it comes to taking meds! I literally have given myself panic attacks because it! lol...It's horrible...but I'm glad I can laugh about it now. As for the white coated tongue...not sure if that could be the Enbrel. My gums on each side of my mouth had turned white though after the 1st shot...but that subsided and they're pink again. I drink tons of water though because my mouth can get really dry when I'm sleeping....so I keep two bottles of water on my nightstand...I've mastered walking to the bathroom and finding the toilet with my eyes closed now because of it! Grrrr.. I too am a walking pharm....I was already one to begin with, but now....I look like an actual pharmaceutical plant! I take folic acids, strovite vitamins, glucosomine chondroitin, anxiety med, ambien cr, and my motrin. Amazing how many pills we have to take just so that we can have a few hours of feeling normal without pain. How long have you been battling RA?
