Guest guest
I've been noticing that I don't like eating when I'm not hungry anymore as I don't feel right, kind of uncomfortable. When I do eat for hunger I feel good. I'm starting to notice signals more and more and am glad things are changing, it just feels right. Things are also changing for me for the better at work - I'm really coming into my own. Thanks, J.

Hi J, I am glad to hear you are continuing to make so much progress. That is exciting! I know what you mean about not liking to eat when you are not hungry anymore. I have experienced the same thing. I honestly didn't know how much of my eating was connected to trying to cope with my emotions, or numb them, until I started eating intuitively and learning how to read my body's signals. Once I started doing that and could separate true hunger from emotional hunger, eating for emotional reasons just seemed really counter intuitive to me. It seemed very unnatural. (Even though I had been doing it unconsciously most of my life!) To me, eating for emotional reasons now just doesn't seem to make sense. It would be like saying, " Wow, I am really tired, I need to go trim my toenails. " THAT wouldn't make any sense, right? Well, now that is how I feel about eating when I am not hungry. I find other areas of intuitive eating more challenging, such as honoring my hunger and stopping when I am full. But eating to cope with emotions was much easier for me to eliminate.
