Guest guest
I stopped Enbrel, it worked great for about 2 yrs, then I had blood clots, so I quit it. I notice that my lungs became hypersensitive and I now have many frequent bouts of asthma. I am not allergic, nor do I have a cold. I am not sure how long it takes for the Enbrel to leave your system, but I was always amazed that you could stop Enbrel during an infection and then pick it right back up again, and the RA doesnt go up and down. That to me indicates it stays in your body for awhile. I have begun to flush my system with fresh parsley in water with lemon, I make it fresh every 3 days and I leave the parsley inside the jar (I use glass pitcher with cover, no plastic) with the water/lemons. I have begun to drink room temperature and/or warm water, not cold, cold exascerbates my asthma, makes me hack worse. I use the honey and cinammon more frequently. Occasionally I use fresh ginger to make tea with the honey. I fight back always, the mind is strong, the body pffffffffft - L0L:)) OKD
Guest guest
P J, I'm on Enbrel, and I'm lucky because I don't get that many infections. I get some, but not a lot. For example, this winter I got one cold and two sinus infections, and that was more than I usually get. I guess it depends on the individual as to how many infections we get. I do take a multivitamin, plus extra B, C, D, and E. I also take calcium and fish oil. I take them, hoping they will do some good. I guess they must be working. I'm retired, so am not around a lot of people like you are. That probably makes a difference. They say it's a good idea to wash your hands a lot. I tend to do that, too. I hope you begin to get fewer infections. Take Care. Sue On Apr 5, 2011, at 8:45 AM, Patti Yuswak wrote: > My questions are, is this normal, to get sick so much? Guest guest
Thanks Sue! I've never been prone to getting sick a lot, I wonder if Enbrel suppresses my immune system enough that now I'm open to the bugs. I'm going to talk to my regular Dr and see if taking a multivitamin in addition to my C & D would be okay. My husband told me when he used to take vitamins he hardly every got sick. I'm not a good pill taker (they make me gag) so I shy away from them. But if it will help I'll do it! I'd heard that about washing hands more too, not sure why I haven't tried it, definitely an easy thing to add in. And eating healthier would be good too, but it seems like every time I add something into my diet I see on the news where now it's bad for you! It's so frustrating, RA and getting sick have really cut into my life. I'm supposed to be in a tracking test with one of my dogs this Sunday and I need to practice this week but I can't yet because I'm coughing so much and feeling achy and weak. The one joy in my life are my dogs and everything I do with them, I know I can still do things, I just have to adjust my pace and realize there are some things I just can't do any more. But it's so depressing sometimes. Sorry for the pity party! I'm through whining now - when I read some of the posts and what some people have had to go through and/or give up, well, the spirit of the people on this list is just amazing. When I start to have my little pity parties I just need to slap myself and get over it. :-) PJ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of marysue Subject: Re: [ ] Sick Again . . . :-( P J, I'm on Enbrel, and I'm lucky because I don't get that many infections. Guest guest
Patti- Try using a half of a piece of bread to take pills with. Tear off a corner and chew it, then toss the pill in your mouth and swallow all of it together. I used to have to do that and it makes pill taking easy. Now, I can swallow 10 at a time with no bread. Hope that helps you-- in SC I'm not a good pill taker (they make me gag) so I shy away from them. But if it will help I'll do it!
Guest guest
Thanks Chris! Do you use water too or just the bread and the pills? Guest guest
Hi PJ-- Just wash the whole mess down with water. Funny thing is- I used to have to use bread to take pills. Now I have to eat the bread after pills because my 'swallower' doesn't work as well as it should. They get stuck in my throat. Try it. I think you will find it very easy to take pills once you get the hang of it. in SC Thanks Chris! Do you use water too or just the bread and the pills?
