" When my face cleared for those occasions as well, I had thought I just got lucky (from some unknown variable). Now that I realize it's the tanner itself that's improving it, I'm still afraid to use it every day for fear its " magic " will wear off. <g> I'm just happy to be clear for those occasions when I most appreciate it. jane ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, I acutally put the self-tanner on my face. There is no other way for it to work. <g> I put it on in the morning, after using a light moisturizer - like Aveda's Bio-Molecular Perfecting Fluid. I really like Aveda products, by the way (contains pure flower and plant essences). At night, I use Aveda's Night Nutrients, which is THE most wonderful product I've ever used. It feels like silk when you put it on and it's immediately absorbed. After the morning moisturizer, then I put the " SunBrellas " on. I usually try to wait a bit, at least 30 min. or so and then apply my foundation and powder. The tan color appears in about 2-3 hrs. The only rosacea-specific product I'm using right now is the cea LTD brown disk - morning and night. The yellow disk made my face break out more, as someone else on the list had mentioned. Over the years (first diagnosed about 4 yrs ago), I had used Metrogel, Tetracycline (and a few other antibiotic variations), Noritate cream more recently, and had even tried acupuncture in desperation. None of that stuff helped at all. jane ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest guest
Jane, Could you post the ingredients of the two lotions you are using? Aveda is the name, at local drug stores? Thanks, Darlene ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest guest
, Perhaps your skin is just naturally more moist even though you have rosacea. Maybe the cleanser you use is good for you also cause it obviously is not drying you out. You don't get a tight feeling or dryness in the winter months? I say stick with what is not breaking you out! I hate those pimples! I avoid anything and everything that I believe is possibly causing me to get pimples regardless of what anyone says. Guest guest
I've noticed a really funky smell once the self tanner takes effect. I don't know if it's just me or if this is typical??? Does this product leave you smelling sort of musty? Also, does it feel sort of oiler on the skin while wearing it? My skin will not tolerate any additional cream or oils, it'll just make me break out. I have not been successful in moistering my face, my cheeks will break out immediately. Maybe some of us can't go by the regime to " moisturize " ? I kept seeing, on here, that it was important to moisturize and so I thought I might as well give it a try and woe is me, I have 2 duzzies on my right cheek and I haven't had " any " zit type things in a loonnnggg time! ECCCK No more oils or moisturizer for me! Dabs of Retin A on the zits, for awhile anyway. I guess it comes down to knowing what works for you and " sticking " to it regardless as to what works for someone else. wendy s/houston wrote: Original Article: /list/rosacea-support/?start=4037 > > Jane, are you saying you actually put this on your face??? Guest guest
http://www.aveda.com/ I used to work in an all Aveda salon in the states. They've got a lot of good stuff. Guest guest
Thanks Jane, I will have to check the 's " Sunbrella " Self Tanner out. I have never tried it. I've looked at it at my local Whole Food's Market, but always wondered if it would even do anything. Glad to get the info that it does give a subtle tan and doesn't smell. I quit using any self tanners because I hated the way they smelled once they " cured " on the skin and because they all seemed too greasy for my skin. I might add that I just read something that stated that if you use a soap that's too alkaline, it will cause your " self-tan " to turn yellow! wendy s/houston wrote: Original Article: /list/rosacea-support/?start=4065 > >> I've noticed a really funky smell once the self tanner takes effect. Guest guest
Hello Jane, Thanks so much for all the information. These lotions sounds wonderful. Jane, with your rosacea do you break out? I tend to if I put anything on that doesn't agree. Neither one of the Aveda lotions broke you out? I am going to look into trying them. I love things that have lots of good for our skin natural ingredients! Thanks again --- GO WINGS Darlene ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest guest
Just a note to let you all know I didn't have such good luck this year with my self-tanner -- it did seem to bring up a flush. I'd advise everyone test patch first. I'm fine today and back to normal, but it did scare me a little! I thought the funny smell was the by-product of a protein reaction between the tanner & your skin -- so I would think the smell would vary more from person to person than from product to product. Every self tanner I've tried has had some kind of peculiar smell -- oh, other than old fashioned QT -- what a marvelous shade of orange that was! ------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's also white so you see exactly where you're applying it and it dries quickly, unlike some other clear lotion tanners that stay wet for a bit. jane ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest guest
Hi Jane G. Everyone is different. I go to accupuncture regularly. Lately we've been " clearing heat " . I can actually feel myself cooling down while I am in there and she says she can see my face getting less red. I feel so good when I get out of there. Try it. What have you got to lose?
