Guest guest
Hi all I don't post often. Mostly because it hurts too much to type but today am having a pretty good day, nearly pain free. My white count is down to 1.8, which is seriously low and makes me subject to infections that can be very harsh on my system. My dr is starting me on Methotrexate and also Gold shots. I had a unltrasound of my spleen today and he found some damage from the RA thus the gold shots. Does anyone on here take gold shots ? Or know anything about them...from personal experience? I have read all I can find on them. Kitt
Guest guest
I was on gold for 5 years or so 20 years ago and it worked wth no ill effects - just good ones. I never heard of anyone being on gold and methotrexate at the same time though Anette On Wed, Jun 16, 2010 at 1:02 AM, Kitt <kitt021355@...> wrote: > Hi all > I don't post often. Guest guest
Kitt, I have a friend who was on gold shots for years, and it worked well for her. She's now on methotrexate. Methotrexate caused my white blood cell count to get low, so make sure that blood work is done often to see if it's having that effect on you. I think mine got down to 2.2, and my rheumy was concerned. He switched me to Enbrel, and it took a long time for the WBC count to get back up to low normal. Guest guest
Thanks for the reply. The gold is in conjuction with something new he found, my spleen is enlarged and my white count is 1.8, I have a rare conditiuon called FELTY'S SYNDROME, it is only found in 1% of RA patients. I started the methotrexate today.... 7.5mg once a week, with blood tests every two weeks for the first two months. K
Guest guest
isn't is strange how one thing works for one person and something different for another person, all for the same diagnosis? I was on Enbrel and it knocked my white count down and I got sick, was sick for three months and terrified I would never get better. Guest guest
I've been on MTX and gold and Plaquenil together for many years (8 or so) with no problem. Works great for me but I don't think they use gold much anymore. Lexi > > Hi all > I don't post often.
