Guest guest
Hi : I just got on line and your post. So sorry you are hurting so much, and I too hope it is not Carpel Tunnell. my friend just had his wrist operated on for that, and he is doing much better with P.T. etc. It is good you are having it checked out in a few weeks. Hopefully they can do something for you to ease the pain, etc.  Yes, I get a lot of jokes each day, and laughter is the best thing for us. It always feels good to laugh.  I hope your turkey day was great. Mine was and it was all so yummy. Still have a whole side of the turkey left to eat. Michele cooked a 21 lb. turkey, then she willl make a soup, and a turkey pie. She is a good cook.  Wishing you pain free days ahead. I feel badly that you are suffering so much. Thank God you did not chop your finger off. That would be too much to deal with!!!  Take care, rest when you can, and talk soon.  Hugs,  Barbara From: <ltdavis_jrdavis@...> Subject: [ ] (OTC) Hi to all.......... " RA Support Group " < > Date: Saturday, November 28, 2009, 5:18 PM  Hi to everyone! Hope your turkey day was great! I am so sorry that I haven't posted in a while - between trying not to type much for the next couple of weeks until my wrists (arms)  are tested, and helping my husband with his company (n-i-c-e.... I can set my own (few) hours!! ) - I've actually been pretty busy but it's been a good busy.  The wrist thing is going to stink if it is carpul tunnel because it will be necessary for me to have surgery on my left wrist as soon as possible. I have this sneaky feeling though, that the pain in my wrists, the numbness, etc is due to my arthritis in my neck which is what they will be testing. I go on the 16th for the test. Although the thought of surgery just makes my skin crawl, but IF it is related to my neck, there will be nothing they can do. I nearly chopped off the tip of my finger cooking 2 weeks ago because my finger was numb and I didn't feel it. Good thing though - at least I didNOT feel it!!! heheheheeh!! Gotta have humor -  Anyway, I really wasn't meaning this to turn out soooo long!! I DO read all of your posts and my thoughts & prayers are ALWAYS with each & every one of you.  And thanks also  to my good friends that send me such funny stuff! Laughter truly is the best medicine there is!  I love you guys!!! Hoping for pain free days ahead for all of us!!! in SC

Guest guest
before you have surgery you should see your rheumy. I had issues with my wrists myself and had a nerve conduction test, I was diagnosed with bilateral carpel tunnel was told I needed surgery but opted out of it after talking to my rheumy who diagnosed it has being caused by my RA and inflamation from the RA. You will want to make sure that this is what is causing the issue before hand. I'm mostly a lurker [ ] (OTC) Hi to all.......... Hi to everyone! Hope your turkey day was great! Guest guest
Hi ! I wish you well with your hands and neck. I had the surgery for carpal tunnel on both hands. Small incision, minimal pain and my recovery was quick - no PT needed. I was very pleased with the whole process. Enjoy your second Turkey Day..... Doreen Thanks but my rheumy is the one sending me to this specialist! Thank you so much for responding ! Sent from my iPhone
Guest guest
Thanks for letting me know about your surgery! I know there are two types- the one you've had & then a more complicated one. I do already have the best orthopeadic surgeon so I'll know more when they figure out what is causing it all! Thanks again!!!! Guest guest
Hi all, I too had been dx'ed with carpal tunnel and declined the offer of bilat surgery. That was just prior to a RA flare that led to my diagnosis. My rheumy explained how carpal tunnel is technically correct, it most likely related to RA, & that with my proper RA treatment, those symptoms should alleviate as well. Also, under the circumstances discouraged surgery, decreased immune system, creation of scar tissue, etc. So, I also recommend speaking with your rheumy, he/she will be familiar with you specific medical history and how best to treat your symptoms Even now when the carpal tunnel symptoms appear, I have the comfort of the braces, icy/hot, & the and the peace of mind in knowing that it was not a " new " thing.
