It was great to read about how you're learning what works best for your body by experimenting with what foods, what portions, and what time to eat certain foods. Working with IE is really a great adventure into self-awareness, self-discovery, and self-care.

I've encountered a similar guilt around throwing food away and like you I've been working with my portions. I know that I'm honoring myself by not eating more than I need and somehow I can probably make more peace within myself about the fact that food is perishable. Once I have my own place, I'll start composting and then I'll feel like I'm helping recycle food in service of the environment instead of throwing it into landfills.

Latoya (et al) you really can 'compost' anywhere :) The method I use

is what I call 'mulch shakes'. It works on the fact that anything that

can go down a garbage disposal can also be ground up in a blender! For

this purpose I have an old used blender (picked up at garage sale for

..50!) and the jar top serves as my holding pot for vegetable trimmings

and other soft foods. When the jar is fuller, I add water (often from

soaking dishes) and whirl the contents to make a 'mulch shake'. I can

then pour this onto any ground or even potted plants (on a balcony,

not indoors), mix it into the soil and instantly 'feed' plants, worms

etc. I currently live in the country and this has yet to attract

wildlife like a compost pile can do - especially if larger sized

pieces of attractive foods are in the pile. (raccoons LOVE shrimp

shells!!)

Cheers - Katcha
