Guest guest
Someone told me to give it two years and after that it is going to stay the way it is. I am two years post op and my arms are seriously hanging, but I am too cheap to have surgery on them. They are the source of many good laughs in my family especially as I am driving the car with sleeveless shirts in the summertime. My husband calls them my " grandma " arms. The kids take turns flapping them once in awhile. They are lucky I am such a good sport..... Jan C. 3-11-98 RNY Arm Tucks >Hi everyone: > >You don't really know me. I have been a lurker for six months. I had my surgery April 5, 1999. Had a VBG/Gastric Bypass and started at 326. I have lost 122 pounds since and feel great. I am 38 years old and live in Orange County, New York. I work out at the gym at least 4 times a week and do a lot of toning for my extra skin. I have looked into a tummy tuck and will be probably going for that in October. I want to try to lose another 20 pounds and I need time to save the money. Anyway, the question that I have is this. > >Has anyone ever exercised enough where they actually don't need the excess skin removed? I hate my arms but know that I will never be able to have them done. Will the skin ever stop hanging and tighten up a little? I thought I would put the question out to you and would appreciate any responses. I sure know why they call them " batwings " , that's for sure. I could definitely use mine for flying. > >Thanks for any responses. > >Take Care - >ERIN BORDAS > > >

Jan C. 3-11-98 RNY Jan, When I have heard how long it take and what the PS tells patients after procedures is 1 year after the procedure for complete healing and the skin to be shrunk. . . . So I would think your skin will continue to shrink for a year after you stopped losing weight! Sounds good to me . . . Hey you folks that are way out from stopping losing were you a lot tighter a year after you quit losing? I'm curious, in the past I usually started gaining within minutes of hitting any goal or low weight! So I have no experience in that department! Guest guest
My PS said there is no way my arms would tighten up that much. He cut 5 inches off of the circumference of my arm. I had it done at Christmas and stiff have red scars. I am really fortunate in that I don't have the problem with my arms or legs . . . I really don't medically need any reconstructive surgery . . . but I WANT to do my tummy and chest . . . a TT and lift would be awesome. A friend that had never had WLS or been terribly overweight had it done 5 weeks ago and she looks awesome . . . I realize that I won't look as good as she does, but I'm sure it would be a major improvement . . . I haven't gone for any consults or anything yet. How do you like your arms Jana and Ann, do it again in a heartbeat? Vicki in CA
