Guest guest
After the disappointing news of the cancer, I really needed some distraction even though the news didn't seem too bad at that point. When we got to our car in the parking garage, we were ready to start backing out of the space when a 'little old lady' in a big Cadillac backed into the side of the car on our right. She and a couple of pedestrians looked at the cars and she moved her car forward to clear traffic she was blocking (I thought). There was another car that arrived just then and stopped with room to spare (I thought). The 'little old lady' proceeded to back up right toward the car waiting and finally hit her horn just as the Caddy ran into her front bumper! I envisioned the airbag deployment causing more damage. That car didn't even try to back up out of her way, but held her brakes in defiance. Now they got out of their cars and discussed and looked. Meanwhile, another vehicle pulled up behind the BumperCars, blocking me even more. We just sat there with amusement waiting our turn to be run into but that didn't happen. I was slightly disappointed that we couldn't get our van totaled so we could get a new one, but that was our luck for the day. -- Dennis in eastexas
Guest guest
Good grief, Dennis! I understand the desire to get a new vehicle, but am very glad to read that neither you nor Betty were hurt while that crazy woman tried to figure out which way she was going to go!.....Doreen > > After the disappointing news of the cancer, I really needed some > distraction even though the news didn't seem too bad at that point. > When we got to our car in the parking garage, we were ready to > start backing out of the space when a 'little old lady' in a big > Cadillac backed into the side of the car on our right. Guest guest
Hi Dennis: Boy, what a day you had. The whole garage incident was a comedy of errors! At least you laughed about it. I agree, too bad the van wasn't totaled. Words fail me about your cancer diagnosis. I felt awful when I read it, and pray that you will be fine. My father had it, had surgery, etc. and did fine. He lived for another 15 years. A very good friend on mine, had the prostrate cancer very bad. Had radiation, etc. and is doing great. That was 5 years ago. He has also had breast cancer in each breast. That was 10 years ago, and he is going good. He is now 72. Keep you humor, and your positive attitude, and you will be fine also. It is very scary to hear that C word. God Bless you Dennis in all ways. Say hello to Betty for me. I am glad she is doing so much better. That is good for the both of you. Many hugs, Barbara > > After the disappointing news of the cancer, I really needed some distraction > even though the news didn't seem too bad at that point. Guest guest
Dennis, It's too bad you didn't have a video camera with you for this; you could have sent the video to " America's Funniest Videos " and maybe won enough money to buy a new car. LOL. About your cancer: RA has probably prepared you well to deal with it. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer about six months after I was diagnosed with RA, I thought to myself that it couldn't be much worse than RA. This helped me to deal with it much better than I would have otherwise. My cancer was caught very early, too. I hope that yours was caught early as well. You have handled RA for many years, and have managed to maintain your sense of humor and positive attitude in spite of everything. So hang in there, and keep us posted. We will all be pulling for you.
