Guest guest
Mostly Lurker Bob C. or sog from Massachusetts here with a question that I'm hoping Vitalady or anyone can answere realizing that as a group we are really with it. I have been taking iron pills (Ferrous sulfate325 mg 65 mgs usp) for about two weeks for significant anemia and for the last 2 days or so I have been a little sick to my stomach. Question...Could the two be related. just a footnote when they opened me up for the open rny on 6\6\97 I was found to have serosis of the liver because I am an old time drunk that hasn't drank or taken any substitutes for over 27 years so the serosis is an old and inactive one. but it does have my spleen enlarged. Hope you guys can unravel this one. Fraternally Yours Bob (Sog) sog@...
Guest guest
Ferrous sulfate is DEFINITELY associated with stomach upset as well as constipation AND is the most poorly absorbed of all the irons (even in non-bypassed persons). Try ferrous fumerate or ferrous gluconate which are less associated with stomach upset and are better absorbed (more bang for your buck). I am lately a more firm believer in Chromagen or Niferex which are the best absorbed and have virtually NO GI upset. They come in both prescription and non-prescription strengths - talk to your dr about them. They are an iron in a polysaccharide complex. Given " our " history, you should probably stop the iron you have now until you talk with your dr.
