Guest guest
Your research and findings on vaccines, measles, mumps and their significance in auto-immune disorders were very interesting. While most of the studies concluded that it is not a common occurrence, it is something that could happen in a very small percentage of patients, I've always been a rather " odd duck " when it comes to symptoms, ailments and treatments. So, FOR ME, it might be a reasonable assumption that the chicken pox that I had twice as a child, the mumps that I had as a child, the chronic strep as a teenager (6x in 6mo) and whatever vaccines that were the " live " virus could have all contributed to my RA as an adult. Interesting, very interesting.....Doreen
Guest guest
You're very welcome, Doreen. There wasn't much out there on mumps and RA. In my travels in cyberspace, I read a couple of case reports of patients with JRA who experienced a period of remission after they developed the measles. Weird. The cause of these diseases is still one big mystery. I think it's likely that there is a genetic predisposition and then several triggers (which could include infectious diseases or vaccinations). I wish the mystery were over already.
