I now take gambentin...grin and bear it.

I hope you have better luck.

I am having a hard time getting my LFT's to be within the normal range. This has

been going on since Oct of last year so I have not been able to take any meds

since then. I have my celebrex and recently prednisone but thats it . I have

been off my methotrexate and cannot have any other biological or Dmard because

of my LFT's. Now I have to see a liver specialist to see what is going on.

Anyone else have a similar experience and what do you do? I am hurting, the

prednisone helps but I am scared to be on it and my GP is worried it may cause

diabetes??? anyone help? I only take 5 mgs a day to get by so I would appreciate

any advice from anyone in a similar situation....

Hi Tammy, I've had elevated LFTs several times over the years. We've pinned it

on: my statin, diflucan, and flexeril in the past. Have you been taking any non

RA meds (even Tylenol can do it) that might be contributing? Kate F

Due to the Mtx, my liver functions were off the charts, so Im no longer

able to take Mtx or anything like it which means we (my Rheumy and I) cant

treat my RA as aggressively as he would like, right now im on enbrel and 5mg

prednisone.

Good Luck

I'm going through the same thing right now - so I surely do understand!! I had

taken plaquenil for 2 years with good results, then for some reason the RA

decided to speed up, and my hands got a lot worse. Doc doubled the plaquenil,

no better, tried mtx ten the problem with the liver tests. Now I've been off

the mts for about 6 weeks, still take the plaq, taking 8mg prednisone a day, and

no improvement in the liver. (He says it's not cooperating!) I go for a liver

ultrasound in 2 weeks to see if something else is going on. Meanwhile.... he

also tested another enzyme - I forget the name - to see if I could take another

med. I don't want to stay on the pred, altho it has made a BIG difference! I

told him we HAVE to do something!

How frustrating this disease is!!

Tammy,

It is possible for Celebrex (celecoxib) to cause serious liver toxicity.

I hope you can get an answer soon and resume effective treatment.

Tammy,

I have heard that Milk Thistle supplements help to " clean " the liver. You might

try it. Best of luck to you. Hope you find out what's going

on.           Amy
