Guest guest
Eva, Would you be kind enough to tell us how you were diagnosed, and what it was like when you developed this infection. Did your doctors say for sure that it was caused by one of these medications? Thanks. I just would like some more information about this. in Poulsbo, WA. Guest guest
Hi , I was diagnosed last January with the fungus, but I am not sure which it is. I am being tested this coming week. I developed this fungus last year after using Enbrel, Prednisone and Cellcept. I could hardly walk and my hands looked like someone used a knife on me. My sinus cavities also had a fungus and whenever I used a Kleenex to blow my nose the stuff stunk something terrible that I got out of it.My pulmonary doctor put me on Biaxin and another doctor that treats people with arthritis with antibiotics put me on Nizoral (anti fungal antibiotic) and I am doing lots better. I can walk again without hurting, no sores. my hands look a lot better and the skin is not as thin and cracked anymore. Since I took the Enbrel and with this warning just coming out my doctor wants to make sure it's not the fungus that the FDA is talking about. When I find out more I will let you know. Take care, hope this will help. Eva
Guest guest
Eva, I've had skin fungus spots for which they've put me on Nizoral. I think I get it more often from sweating. I used to think I got it from being overweight but I've lost much of the extra lbs and still get it. Right now I have it in my arm pits. Is this related to the fungus they're mentioning in the article. Also, I'm curious if the skin fungus is somehow linked to psoriasis. If you look on the Arthritis Foundation website or any other reputable website that medically discusses the different types of PA, you will note that PA CAN appear in any of the crease areas (groin, neck, axillae, between and beneath breasts, antecubital areas, etc). Many physicians will blame it on sweating or obesity, since that IS the most common cause of rashes in those areas, and not even consider the possibility of PA, since that is one of the less common forms of presentation. Guest guest
Hello Group, I am new here and this is my first post. I am also new to RA - woke up one morning last December in a full blown flare that involved nearly all of my joints. Initial blood tests were inconclusive and the Rheumy I see says that my symptoms " act like RA " . I was prescribed Mobic, added Prednisone to that a few months ago , have received injections to relieve inflammation. I saw my Rheumy last Thursday and he saw that I am not getting better - this is progressing. I took my first dose of MTX that night and continue with the Mobic & Prednisone. I wanted to tell you that I have found this group to be so helpful! I have been wondering about so many things from meds to skin discolorations that so many seem to share. For me part of this experience has left me feeling very alone & misunderstood. I so appreciate finding a place where there are people who have been there, are there and care. Thanks to all, Connie
