Guest guest
Yes, that is pretty much what I am saying but still doesn't answer the question: One would expect when thyroid numbers are improved and in optimal ranges that the MS symptom level would lift a bit. But those I know with MS who are taking Armour, Naturethroid, Westthroid, or Synthroid don't seem to feel any better even though their labs have them back in the normal thyroid range. Doesn't really make sense. No, I didn't think low thyroid caused MS. I believe toxins cause both MS and hormone disruption. ________________________________ To: mscured Sent: Wed, March 9, 2011 2:43:08 PM Subject: RE: Thyroid ( was Re: new member) First of all MS is not CAUSED by low thyroid. Secondly, the damage to the nerves is usually permanent. Low Thyroid output just makes the symptoms and degeneration worse. Guest guest
Agree here...I really do think, after 5 years of researching MS, that MS is caused by a different factor or fifferent set of factors in different people. That's what also makes healing experiences so different. ________________________________ To: mscured Sent: Wed, March 9, 2011 3:35:39 PM Subject: Thyroid ( was Re: new member) I beg to differ. I had nerve damage in my arms that is no longer there and I can lift my legs now. It used to be that they were in total atrophy. I still can't stand without using grab bars but I have more strength than I did. It has not been determined what causes MS. It could be different for all of us. Guest guest
I have no idea, but I have also talked to many-many Ms friends and noticed the same thing. If and when you find an answer, I would love to know the answer to that one. Always curious, Anita -- Thyroid ( was Re: new member) What I am wondering is why people with MS who get treated with thryoid meds (whether it be Armour or Synthoid) and get their lab numbers (TSH, T3, T4, thyroid antibodies) down to optimal numbers, continue to have all the same MS symptoms? > > Funny you mentioned my Thyroid. Yes, I have had my thyroid checked and I'm > on synthroid at this very minute.
Guest guest
> .....Secondly, the damage to the nerves is usually permanent......> Tom, With all due respect to differences of opinion, I think it's better not to think of our symptoms as " permanent. " Look at someone like Terry Wahls--her case was so progressed (tilt recline wheelchair most of the time) and now she rides her bike to work 5 miles a day. If nothing else, we have to have hope. Guest guest
my two cents worth is that ccsvi causes toxins to build up. iodine levels plummet in response to trying to keep up with toxin removal which causes a thyroid disturbance. Guest guest
That's an interesting theory. But my philosophy--I always go back to epigenetics. That is for anyone who doesn't know that we are born with certain genetic predispositions but they may or may not get triggered by environmental triggers of all kinds--food, vaccines, amalgams, pollution, environmental toxins, not getting mother's milk, lack of Vitamin D, etc. Of course, some babies of course are born sick, likely to due to something that the mother had been exposed to or even in the father's sperm. So what I'm saying is I don't think someone just gets CCSVI without a cause. I think maybe the disposition was there but something comes along and triggers CCSVI, MS, Cancer, or ALS, or whatever disease. Prevention remains the best way to perfect health and reversing a disease is much harder than preventing one--but if only we were taught that as children and weren't dragged to get vaccinations in our arms and amalgams in our mouths and our parents rewarding us with M & Ms and Nestle Crunch Bars and Pizza. Ugh! ________________________________ To: mscured Sent: Wed, March 9, 2011 10:04:33 PM Subject: Re: Thyroid ( was Re: new member) my two cents worth is that ccsvi causes toxins to build up. iodine levels plummet in response to trying to keep up with toxin removal which causes a thyroid disturbance.
