Hello

Ummm. This is an interesting thread. I use to be catasrophic at Math. I can

remember my Dad screaming and slamming his fist down on the Kitchen table

over my Nine times tables. I would break out in a sweat, just at the mere

thought of having to do a Math problem of ANY sort. Could not announce my

multiplication tables by rote. But something happened. I don't know what or

when. (must have been abducted by aliens... hee hee hee) Suddenly I am able

to do math a hell of a lot easier. I haven't turned into an overnight wizz or

anything, but I am doing a lot better. I can't work out why all this has

happened

suddenly. I am putting it down to the kids and having to help them with their

homework on a less stressful level. Mike has always been the one to do Math

especially in his head, but I have been solving math problems on a dime, and

even when he has said a different answer and I have corrected myself

thinking I couldn't possibly get it right...... then I have thought... No...

That is right and I was!! <Shock - Horror>

So although I can relate to the dysmathic thing...... I am not suffering as much

now....... I will tell you what is getting annoying though!! Writing or typing

and

spelling the really simple words wrong. At first I thought it was because I

type so fast and with a natural keyboard it can be terribly easy to make simple

mistakes, but then it has shown up in my written work aswell. So I know its not

that.

I'm right there with you on the dysmathic thing. I thought I was the only

one!

I've told people for years that I am dysmathic - the closest I can come to

a sort of dyslexia for math. I can do nothing in my head. Even simple

multiplication tables are difficult for me. If I can write it down I can

do it, but not in my head.
