Guest guest
Hi Haidy, I have had a similar pattern in the past, that is noticing a worsening of symptoms for 2 weeks before my period and then relief at my period. However, recently the pattern has been more variable. Some people suggest bio-identical hormone replacement therapy as a treatment for MS and healthy aging. A woman named Simpson wrote a couple of books about how she healed her MS through hormone therapy. I have talked to two people who say hormone therapy has helped them to. Many people are of the belief the bio-identical hormones are more healthy to the body than synthetic hormones, such as the pill. Also, if you choose to look into this route, it is advised that you find a practitioner who has a specialty in bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. They will measure your full hormone panel and also look at your clinical symptoms. Often, people end up on several hormones, such as progesterone, estrogen, cortisef, and Armour thyroid, and modifications need to be made to get the right dosing. I have/am considering hormone therapy but haven't done it yet, with the exception of taking a progesterone cream--which actually I am taking due to a uterine fibroid, rather than MS. So far, testing shows that the progesterone cream did not raise my progesterone level, as it was supposed to do. I heard intravaginal suppositiories are more effective, and may switch to that at some point. Some people believe if the body is properly detoxed, the hormones will correct themselves, but many have found that hormones were needed. Guest guest
Hi, Without a shadow of doubt hormones play a big part in MS. Any studies they have done show that it is the estrogen that has an effect on MS. I would be the same as you , the weeks preceding my menstruation I would get symptoms, all would disappear once menstruation has started. I was on the pill before and after childbirth but gave it up mainly due that I take enough tablets. During pregnancy in the 3rd trimester is the best time for people with MS. I think they only have estrogen, could be progesterone. The docs are right but solely up to you. Personally, I try to avoid any more synthetic drugs, am on betaferon, so its enough.
