I am also not sure if potatos are allowed. AFAIK, malt vinegar is the only one that's technically off-limits for BBD (barley). As others have posted, though, that doesn't mean you personally won't have problems with it. I'm fine with balsamic vinegar, but haven't used apple cider vinegar myself. Also, potatoes are BBD-compliant. However, many on BBD have opted to eliminate the nightshades (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant) and noted improvement. I've resisted eliminating more stuff, but finally decided to cut way back (love tomatoes and peppers, occasionally potatoes). Potatoes are OK too but as a nightshade family vegetable shouldn't be eaten all the time.
