Guest guest
That's been a problem for me as well. My body seems to like healthy foods (feed the body, not the mind) so I always keep bananas and Yoplait vanilla yogurt on hand. If I'm walking around searching for something to eat, I choose one of those things, and tell myself if I'm still hungry after eating it then I can plan something else. Usually those types of things satisfy me, and I can think rationally for what I'll have when I get hungry again later on. Guest guest
I have that problem too sometimes. I am really hungry but I can't think of a single thing I want to eat! And other times practically everything sounds good! The body is a temperamental thing! Guest guest
I would say the first thing to do is not let yourself go to " starving " . I eat when being hungry is taking my mind off what I'm doing at the time, and that's long before starving. The way I choose what to eat is by deciding what type of food I want. Smooth and creamy? Maybe tomato soup or potato soup, or yogurt. Do I want cruchy? Maybe nachos or taco (can you tell I live in the southwest?). Something substantial? Meat & veggies, a casserole, a baked potato, or a fat sandwich. Something cold? Ice cream, pudding, a fruit salad. Well, you get the idea. The key to this is to having stuff available to put together something to match what type of thing you want. I eventually got to where I knew what I usually go for in those food categories, and keep my cupboards full of what does it. For me, it's not usually a specific thing, but when it is (say pizza from my favorite place) I go for it. You get better at matching food to hunger the longer you allow yourself to really think about it. And that's why you need to eat before you are starving. Good luck. Sometimes it just takes baby steps to get where you're going. jb
