Guest guest
marg, Please tell your PCP that you are taking your pet's predisone. That's a dangerous thing to do. Guest guest
Prednisone is the same for pets and us, I have a bottle prescribed for one of the group and it's still in the original packaging. I wouldn't hesitate to take it as far as quality goes. It seems that most scripts are cheaper for pets but the same quality. Guest guest
Dennis, It's dangerous if you are taking prednisone and your physicians don't know. That's what I was driving at. Also, 40 mg a day is a huge dose for RA. Guest guest
Yeah, . That's why I worded it the way I did. The meds are ok, but the taking unprescribed is the problem. Guest guest
yes dennis, i forgot to mention that i buy in bulk at sams, so i (and my rescue dogs) take human pred, not veterinary meds. but i based the 20mg 2xday being lower than the medrol pack i tried once for ruptured plantar fasciitis(which my pcp said was equivalent to 60mgs pred). but i will be talking to my pcp soon about my meds, she seems to want me to try enbrel.i might prefer to do the 10mg2xday of pred first for a while, but i don't keep secrets from docs,so i understand gina's concern. take care, marg > > Prednisone is the same for pets and us, I have a bottle prescribed for one > of the group and it's still in the original packaging. Guest guest
And if you don't take the Pred for long, you may not get 'hooked' as some of us are. The first thing I was told by my new Rheumy was to plan on stopping pred but after trying hard 3-4 times, I can't do it so far. Talk to your PCP soon, please. Guest guest
Hi Dennis and Marge: Prednisone has been the wonder drug for me. Like you , I have never been able to get off it. This drug has allowed me to have a life, even if it is a restrictive life. I could not get out of bed or even function without it. Marge, I am glad you will be talking with your Rheumy about the dose of Pred. that you are taking. I have only had 40-60 mgs. of Pred. in the beginning, and one other time for a very bad flare and Pneumonia and Asthma at the same time. My Rheumy watches me very closely. I hope you feel better soon. Hugs, Barbara > > > > > > Prednisone is the same for pets and us, I have a bottle prescribed for > > one > > > of the group and it's still in the original packaging.
