Guest guest
Hi Ira: On the MTX, I could not take the pills as they made me so sick to my stomach, 24/7. I now inject it each week, and take 2 Leucovorin pills 12 hours later. This has worked well for me. I have been on Pred. daily for 6 years. The only problem I had was the weight gain, which I hate. The Pred. is a wonder drug for me. I know some members can't take the Pred. due to the side effects. For me, it has given me my life back, and I have been in a medicine induced remission since last Oct. Pain free and all. I hope this information helps. Wishing you better days ahead. Guest guest
It's probably the MTX, you can switch to injections and I found it help very much, less side effects for me as well. Guest guest
Hi Ira - I would venture to say the prednisone is at the root of the anxiety. Do you take any meds for anxiety/depression? Its not uncommon and actually recommended that those with RA should be checked for the other too. As for your digestive problems, it could be both. Have you considered switching to the MTX injections? I did a while back and not only is my digestive system better, but the side effects of the MTX shortened in duration. Hope this helps. Feel better. Let us know.....Doreen Hi All, I'm on MTX 15mgs. weekly and prednisone 5mgs. daily. I am having digestive problems worse than typical and some anxiety which is unusual for me. Guest guest
Hi DD: I would say the MTX was upsetting your stomach. The pills made me so sick 24/7, that my Rheumy switched me to weekly injections. I give myself my shot each Thursday night, and 12 hours later I take 2 Leucovorin pills. No stomach issues anymore. The Pred. is probably causing your other issue. I would suggest that you call your Rheumy and explain what is going on with your meds. I hope this info. helps, and I hope you start to feel better soon. Guest guest
Hi - I used to be on 5mg prednisone daily and if I didn't have anything on my stomach, I would actually throw up - I have a very, very sensitive stomach. And it made me gain weight, made me hyper and if I ever got over 5mg - I would be the worst bitch (sorry - but that's what I became!!!). I called it the bitch pill. hehehehe............
