Hi Marg,

I have never heard of such a thing. Usually the protocol to be put on a

biologic is to have other meds not work that well alone, such as methotrexate,

and plaquenil, or others. Not really fail, but usually, mtx will be increased

to maximum dose for about 3 months. At this point the Dr. will submit to

the insurance company his and his patients results to get approval for a

biologic. Usually you have to take a TB test before starting one of them and

then

you can start. My rheumy had discussed with me several biologics, had given

me all the pamphlets, samples of all to see how they are given, etc...I ended

up choosing Enbrel and that is what he got approval for. I'm curious where

you are finding your information? Hope this helps.

hi everyone,

i recently joined, was wondering and read that docs won't start us on these

meds unless the disease has affected the central nervous system or kidneys. is

this what most here have experienced?

what kind of central nervous system symptoms have you gotten?

my autoimmune diseases are affecting my kidneys, so this is why i am trying

to find out more about these meds.

thanks,take care,
