Guest guest
Hi Kitt.... I am so very sorry to hear about your pain and other problems.....I live in a small town (less than 40,000) in SC and I do not know how big of a town you live in since there is some distance between us! However, if it is a smallish town, let me at least give you my 2cts worth from a small town. I am originally from a LARGE city - Charlotte, NC - where I swear everything was so MUCH easier!!! I have been 2 hrs one way to a specialist, 3 hrs to another. And oh yeah - I have terrible allergies living in the South.....I have never thought about a connection and it is certainly something I will bring up with my new doc that I see in Aug..../... Sometimes, my friend, you have to keep trying and trying until you find the right doc for you. It isn't always easy as many will tell you, but I promise you, you keep trying until YOU feel good about the person on the other end listening to you and your problems. Eventually, you WILL find the right doc - and you will find promising relief. The key though, is no ONE should ever have to put up with this pain and NOT have a doc that truly listens. If that doc doesn't listent to your honest to goodness pain, then you just have to keep trying new dr's.... I am still on my own journey but have an appt w/ a promising doc that was schooled at Hopkins specializing in RA for many years. In a way, I am in the same boat - BUT I haven't given up - neither should you! Doctors PRACTICE medicine - they do NOT know everything. You have to keep going until you have found your match! Good Luck! in SC From: Patsy <pab91101@...> Subject: Re: [ ] Patsy to Kitt Date: Monday, July 27, 2009, 7:06 PM Hi Kitt, I was on Enbrel from the time it was first approved by the FDA until three years ago. It took me from being disabled to leading a normal life. Then I got a difficult case of pneumonia, including a collapsed lung. It took six months of being treated by a lung specialist to recover. My pain level went back up to a 10 since I could not take Enbrel any more. My rheumatologist eventually had me try Arava. It took several months, but I am back to leading a pretty much normal life. The worst side effect of Arava for me was diarrhea, but I stuck with it and am doing fine now. Since you have been through a similar situation, perhaps you could discuss Arava with your doctor. My flares are almost always caused by humidity or a weather change. However, I do have allergies so maybe they do play a role. Sincerely, Patsy ____________ _________ _________ __ From: Kitt <kitt021355 (DOT) com> @gro ups.com Sent: Friday, July 24, 2009 9:23:33 AM Subject: [ ] RA and allergies Has anyone had allergies associated with RA. I live in Casper Wyoming, we have one RA doctor. She is about as useful as a flea. Her idea of help is asking you how are you, you say you are in pain, she says,ok, see you next month. I went this week to Cheyenne to a specialist there. He seems to think that allergies are a cause for flare ups.I have been in severe pain for way too long. I was on Enbrell with GREAT results, but got sickand my immune system crashed. My white count is 3. I feel bad all the time. Prednisone for flare ups helps some. The new dr. is putting me on some homeopathic meds,to see how they will do. I am nearthe end of my rope with pain. Kitt
