I work fulltime and find it very hard to work after 4-5hours. I am very tired,

have no energy and my hand & feet jont's stiffen where is ti hard to continue

using my computer & filing. I need to know if I can file for disability benefits

or is it very hard to get aapoved?

I filed initially while I was still working and was automatically turned down

but the man at the SSA said to go ahead and file to start the clock, and when I

was no longer able to work to come back and file again. I did that and was

approved within 6 months. I think it helped that I had been terminated from my

job for missing so much time due to health issues. When they calculated back

pay, they went back to the initial time I filed, which was a big help.

Hi Pcortas1 (do you have a first name we could use?). Welcome to the group. I

would check on ssa.gov and read up there. I assume that as long as you're able

to work, they wouldn't approve, but I could be wrong. The length of time for

filing for SSD and getting approved seems to depend on where you live, how old

you are, how advanced your RA is and if you can get a doctor to collaborate with

you. I wish you all the best. Keep us posted. We care.....Doreen :)

my suggestion would be to begin the process now, because it normally takes 2-3

years for any results. You can begin the process online at www.ssa.gov  That is

how I started back in 2005.

Hope this helps,
