Hello everyone-

I just joined this support group a few days ago. I started intuitive eating about 2 weeks ago.

Here's a little about me: I am 41 yrs old, married, and have 2 sons. I live in the Framingham, MA area.

I joined Overeater's Anonymous in December 2007. I was a chronic binger/restrictor my whole life. Always on a diet, always "cheating". Definitely ate to numb feelings. I reached the end of my line in December, and jumped into OA. The food plan I used certainly got me healthy. The support from the meetings was the big thing, though. It was such a relief for me to be around people who understand food issues. However, the last 2 months, I started to realize that my food plan and OA's concept of abstinence was just another diet. Everyone in OA based their very serenity and sanity on whether or not they followed their food plan! Food was still in charge!! Wow, was that an enlightenment for me.

I found out about Intuitive Eating from a fellow OAer who did not use a food plan. I found a nutritionist who teached/supports IE about 3 wks ago. I have been completely off a food plan for a full 2 wks now. No weighing and measuring food, no meticulous planning. I have also stopped weighing myself, as the number on the scale will impede my ability to eat intuitively.

So that's my story. I don't feel I can get the support I need for IE at OA, so here I am!
