Guest guest
It took me about 4 weeks or so to get a bit of relief on it. Best of luck to you. > > Hi All, > > How long does it take before one gets RA symptom relief from plaquenil? I am on 15 mgs. MTX weekly, and went off prednisone because of indications, and fears of, side-effects. We increased my MTX to 20 mgs. but it didn't help much. I need something besides the MTX. My research shows plaquenil is pretty safe as far as side-effects. But wondering how long it takes to get symptom relief from plaquenil? > > Best to all, > Ira Brightman >
Guest guest
Hi, I have been on Plaquenil for about 1 month and haven't noticed a change yet in pain relief. I have aweful hand pain and stiff joints. Still waiting. I guess my doctor told me it may take between 3 to 6 months to feel effects. I intermitently take Cellebrex because I need some relief of pain. Good luck. > > Hi All, > > How long does it take before one gets RA symptom relief from plaquenil? I am on 15 mgs. Guest guest
I have been taking Plaquenil for about 1 month and haven't noticed an improvement yet. I guess it can take as long as 3 to 6 months for full effect. I have, however, developed after the first week a tickle in my throat and cough, nothing productive but scratchy throat. I wonder if this is a side affect. It has not gone away but does not ever get any worse. Does anyone else have a cough with Plaquenil. Guest guest
What is plaqueni? My Rhem has never mentioned it. I've taking MTX for over a year now and just finished a drug study for Cimzia (didn't help much). I just saw him Thursday and he said fusion therapy was the next route or I could try another clinical, still debating. Guest guest
Hi Heidi.    I don't know what it is made of, I just know it works well for me with MTX, Pred. and Sulfasalazine. I have been on these for 5 years now. I started out with MTX and Pred., then she slowly added the Placquenil and Sulfasalazine. I know Placquenil is used for Malaria then they found out it helped RA. Sulfasalazine is a sulfa drug used for many diseases. I have used these 4 drugs successfully for over 3 years now, and I have been in a full remission for over a year now. These happen to be my " Cocktail " of meds. that work wonderfully for me. I did have to have an thorough eye exam before starting the Placqueni. I hope if you start this drug, that it works well for you.     Wishing you many pain free days ahead.  Hugs,  Barbara From: Heidi Kimball <hkimball48@...> Subject: Re: [ ] Re: Plaquenil Question Date: Monday, July 5, 2010, 7:01 PM  What is plaqueni? My Rhem has never mentioned it. I've taking MTX for over a year now and just finished a drug study for Cimzia (didn't help much). I just saw him Thursday and he said fusion therapy was the next route or I could try another clinical, still debating. Guest guest
Hi Heidi - I saw that you live in Denver. I live in Beulah, which is SW of Pueblo. Needless to say, the options for Rheumatologist's aren't too good down here. There is one in Pueblo (ironically I do his transcription). I saw one in Colorado Springs and did not like her at all. Unfortunately they have a rule that you cannot switch docs in their practice. I was wondering who you see and if you like him/her. The drive to Denver might be worth it for me to have a good Rheumatologist! Thanks for you help! Donna > > What is plaqueni? My Rhem has never mentioned it. Guest guest
Donna, I have a great Rhemy, his name is Dr. Charney (Denver Arthritis Clinic). He is great, has a wonderful bedside manner and truly listens to you. His entire staff is great. If you'd like to make the trip, I can provide you with his phone number and address, you won't be disappointed. Guest guest
Thanks Heidi! Bedside manner is so important to me because the Rheumatologist I saw in Colorado Springs had absolutely none!!! I found your docs address through a website that I should actually share with everyone. It is ucomparehealthcare.com. You can search for doctors by state, specialty, and name. Thanks again for giving me his name Heidi!
