I find I'm in the same boat as you. I try to drink when I really

feel like it and limit it to two as any after that I feel blah the

next day. I do notice I drink just because I've got the day off but

I don't drink the night before work as I find I'm more with it the

next day at work. Sometimes when I drink I eat for taste hunger.

I wasn't much of a drinker before, maybe a glass of wine with dinner or

a beer with some popcorn late at night. Might have a Margarita when I

went out to dinner. But after I started eating intuitively, I notice I

almost never drink. I feel like I have enough challenges trying to stay

in touch with my body's signals and I know drinking will cloud my

body's signals to some degree and make it even more challenging for me

to hear what my body is telling me.

I have a lot of stress in my life which can also interfere with the

communication between me and my body. I can't eliminate the stress,

most of the time, but I can easily eliminate the alcohol.

My body whispers to me about food preferences but it SCREAMS to me about

alcohol...my body can't tolerate it at all. I have two primary

reactions to it, either extreme sleepiness or severe stomach pain. My

husband is disappointed because he wishes we could enjoy wine with

dinner, but I am not willing to feel bad in order to drink with him.

It sounds like your situation is more complex because alcohol makes you

feel less stressed and more connected...that would make it more

difficult to listen to your body, I would think...
