Guest guest
Hello Beth ... this is a frequent problem for me ... the only thing that has worked for me is the chiropractor. Make sure you have one that understands that he can help you not cure you. I used to have them on a very frequent basis ... I had my breast reduction in March and have only had 3 since then. VAST improvement! Pk
Guest guest
HI JBeth, I am sorry to hear that you are so uncomfortable. has been dealing with this problem for several months now. We ususally try to push the rib back where it belongs. The doctor and physio both recommend monitoring posture closely. Whenever slouches or twists around in bed his ribs pop. Sorry I'm not much help. JBethEDS@... wrote: > > Hi all: > > Does anyone know how to fix dislocated ribs? Guest guest
OUCH! Try some gentle stretches to help ease it back in place (like lie on your bed with your arms over your head and roll gently from side to side keeping your arms raised), and heat for discomfort. If this is the first time though, your doctor might want to take a peek. Try to be careful today!! Jill
Guest guest
If you have a PT or massage therapist that knows myofascial release, this is a gentle way to get those pesky ribs back in. When I separated a rib from the sternum while pregnant with , it took years to find someone who knew how to do myofascial release. Since then, I've not had any major problems with that rib. And if it does act up, I do MFR on it myself. You can check with your PT or call a few massage places and see if they know how to do myofascial release. Make sure they actively use this technique and not the, " oh sure, I know MFR...learned about it in school " is not the same thing as " yes, I use it all the time on my clients/patients " . Been there, done that....<heavy sigh> dislocated ribs??? > Hi all: > > Does anyone know how to fix dislocated ribs? Guest guest
Beth, Hi! Carole Ehlers here. I had a dislocated rib. It was in the back. The doc said I crossed the eighth over the ninth or something like that?? All I knew I was in big pain and I could not breathe so he had me take a high dose of pain killers. I did so and was starting to feel better then felt the need to take a big breath and then the rib slipped back into place. I might have gotten lucky but it has worked one other time and seems to be the same darn rib! I hope your rib is back in place by now. Recently I have sneezed and my entire rib cage cracked. Wow, that was a weird feeling!! Love Whole Bunches of Dem Bones Going Different Directions, Carole
Guest guest
Hi Beth, I believe this has happened to me twice in two weeks! It has happened before as well. It is extremely painful, In my case paralyzing, breathing is more like crying for air. Both times all I did was turn my head. I put heat on right away as my muscles tighten up so much. Try to relax and breath. Don't attempt to do anything. I had to go to the medical center to have an injection of pain meds once. That dulled it enough to get rested and more relaxed. I put my neck brace on so as to hold my head in alignment and limit my mobility. I also went to have acupuncture ASAP in the site, upper mid shoulder blade. I laid down and took naturopathic pills called Traumeel, I also applied the cream of the same name. This is supposed to treat bruising and soft tissue injury acting as an anti-inflammatory. As well continued with the heating pad (mine is moist heat) This is the second day and I'm ok today. Yesterday I was down for the day. It's frustrating having 1 good day then down for 2. This treatment was of course in conjunction with all the other meds I am on daily for pain. Lorraine dislocated ribs??? > Hi all: > > Does anyone know how to fix dislocated ribs? Guest guest
I forgot to say that my ribs seem to come out of position right along the spine and tend to take the vertebrae with them.
