Guest guest
Welcome to the group, For me is lack of sleep. I can't sleep, I'm hungry , I eat. It gets me every time. I try to brake the cycle and not eat even if I'm awake and hungry. I drink calorie free drinks. or a little bite of something. Is the same thing like emotion=eat, feelings=eat beat yourself up=eat. Our response to what we are going through is what is keeping us overweight. So instead of one problem: lack of sleep, I add another: overweight it doesn't make sense. So I try to deal with my problem without adding more. ly, I'm tired, I want to be a sleep deprived slim person like a revenge, OK I can not sleep, but I can be slim. And that's the truth, there are so many things we can not control, but weight is not one of them. Subject: IntroductionTo: IntuitiveEating_Support Date: Thursday, June 19, 2008, 6:57 PM Hello - I am JB and new to the group. I have been doing forms of IE for many years, and have had varying degrees of success, depending how much effort I put into working it. My biggest trouble is emotional eating - gets me every time. I quit dieting for good about 5 years ago - telling myself that even if I gained weight I would never do it again. Also got rid of the scale (evil machine). I have spent the last 5 years at the same weight (according to my dr's scale) and have legalized food - all food. My hinderance to weight loss is emotional eating, and not knowing when I'm full until I've passed it. I would love to know some of the things you all do when those things hit you. Looking forward to getting to know you all.jb
Guest guest
Hi JB Emotional and BORED eating is my biggest problems. Especially in evening when spending time with "DH watching tv or a movie. I have tried a bunch of different activities but nothing really keeps my interest for long. Praying for new insight here. Guest guest
Welcome . Well you won't have much frustration with understanding here :) IE is a language we are all getting familiar with, each in our own time, pace and way. I am glad that you didn't let your previous less than wonderful experience with online support stop you there. I can tell you that I read Geenen Roth's book over 15 years ago, went to a workshop, LOVED the concept, but couldn't implement 'her' method to get non-dieting into my life. I didn't let go of the non-dieting concept, but it wasn't until I found this group and its wonderful support, that I was able to get IE going for me. EXternal pressures are very prevalent and determined to gather you into their ranks. Yet the old saying about how all the birds can fly in the WRONG direction seems to apply here. It does take getting a new outlook on YOUR issues vs. what 'they' seem to need (from you) and that can be difficult at first. Kick back and be comforted by knowing you are in good company here.
